If they do end up fight, for it to be rememberd as one of the great major fights of all time (along with post war fights such as Leonard vs Hearns, Hagler vs Hearns, Ali vs Foreman, Ali vs Fraizer, De La Hoya vs Trinidad) does Pacquiao have to be the winner. Mayweather is disliked by most fans and almost all the boxing press. If he wins, they will just say he beat a little guy in Pacquiao. If Pacquiao wins, he will of beaten the invincible Mayweather, suposedly overcome all the odds. Please discuss.
The anti-Floyd excuses are already set up if this fight happens or noT. I discussed this at length on another thread the other day- I don't see how Pacman beats PBF, tbh. IF he beats PBF then he will go down as the greatest of this generation and also as one of the greatest of all time. If he doesn't fight him/ doesn't beat him, then Pacman still has one hell of a CV, regardless.
I see where you're coming from Rob but if both are floored and it's tightly contested then I don't think the result will be too important. I do want to see Pac win though and preferably by KO, in the same manner Hatton was. Love to see that ***** humbled.
I don't think either man 'needs' the other to be considered great. Both have done enough at this point. Having said that, if Mayweather and Pac win their next two bouts a fight between the two is enevitable.
