The average random person on the street in any US town or city is far more likely to know who Jake Paul is, than Canelo or Tank or anyone else.

Jake Paul is entertainment. Everybody knows who Mayweather is as well but he's not the face of boxing. He is also entertainment. They might know Jake Paul but they don't associate him with boxing but rather an event participant who uses boxing to entertain. When it comes to serious boxing. It's either Canelo or Tank.

He has 4 million followers on Instagram and 2 million on Twitter. How is he not known to the average person?

He has a better name than Crawford and Spence, that's for sure. Ryan is better than anyone either have fought

I am confident that if I ask my co-workers, almost none of them know him, if not none. But if I ask them about Canelo, some will say they know him.

Yep, I’ve been seeing that in a lot of social media comments. He just beat another famous guy but it takes more than beating a glorified prospect to be the face of boxing. Tank still hasn’t fought the top guys at his own weight. He doesn’t even hold a real belt at his own weight. Unless he unified or beats a top guy or two, he’s just another good young fighter with potential.

Canelo is not without flaws but he’s earned his position in boxing by fighting top opponents. That’s something you can’t say about Tank.

Seeing as some of the Twink fans on here are going to keep spreading lies let's return the favour by spreading some uncomfortable truths

Casual fans actually believe the grotesque PBC/Showtime smoke and mirrors spin they feed them about Twink being a "P4P great" and a "five-tim/three weight world champion'' when in reality in he's a one-weight champion who has only beaten one actual truly legit champion who was a champion at the weight he fought them at (Pedraza) in over ten years as a pro and his other 2 world titles at 135 and 140 were won against a shot to hell 38 y/o Gamboa who was fighting with a torn Achilles tendon from round 2 onward for the vacant WBA regular belt when Loma was the WBC, WBA and WBO champion at the weight and Teofimo held the IBF

And the WBA regular belt again at 140 against Barrios when Josh Taylor was undisputed at the weight.

One could easily be mistaken for thinking that Team Twink have been greasing the WBA's palms because they also demoted the real WBA 130 champion Alberto Machado who beat the previous real champion Jezreel Corrales who won the belt by dethroning long reigning champ Takashi Uchiyama who held the title for six years and had made 10 defences of it in order to promote beltless Twink who lost his IBF 130 title on the scales in his previous fight after missing weight to super champion for beating career 126 pounder Cuellar for the vacant WBA title who was campaigning at 126 not 130 and was coming off 16 months of inactivity and a loss

PBC and Showtime won't inform the casuals about any of this

Decent social media following for a boxer.

Let's assume all 4 mill Instagram followers are American, that's about 1 in 1000 Americans know who he is. That's hardly what I would call "known by the average person."

I've been pretty surprised, I've ran into two random guys in bars who were talking about Tank vs Garcia. I think it's had more crossover success than anything since Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones. Before that maybe Canelo vs GGG 2 or Wilder vs Fury 2.

Both casual fans saw it as a 50/50 fight and were pretty surprised when I told them RG was in for a bad night.

Tank also currently looks like Tekeshi 69 which means you shouldn't be the face of boxing
