The thing is....when you put yourself on such a pedestal, you know, greater than the greats - Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Louis, Duran, etc - you tend to be looked upon with a lot more scrutiny. You can't go branding yourself the greatest of all time, and then when asked to live up that, you come back with "what more do you want from me!?". Dude, you're the one who wants us to treat you like those greats, so the onus is on you to take on the challenges like they did. I mean, come on - would you ever see the likes of Ali, Robinson, and Louis taking an 18-month vacation in their prime during a time when their division is loaded with hot talent that's providing the perfect opportunity to prove their worth? Would you ever see them delay a fight for almost three years with their nearest rival for unwarranted drug testing and unfair financial demands? Hell no. Win or lose, them guys would have taken on those challenges, and that's what made them so great.

ROFLMAO To think Mayweather will ever face Martinez or Paquaio is pure fantasy.
He waited till Cotto is shot . Cotto had Margarito fighting with one eye from the fourth round & could not put him away. Heck Tony had his best round of the fight so the Doc couldn't risk a repeat of fight1. He stopped the fight to save Cotto not Margarito

If Floyd fought Martinez and Pac, I would have tons of respect for him! I honestly don't see him taking these fights...

If Pac knew what time he should go to bed, I would have tons of respect for him! But Count Pacula will drain you!

You've seen what it will mean to his 'critics'... "They're already past their best, Floyd's waiting until they get old." To impress Floyd's 'critics' he needs to face a young top fighter in their prime who would beat him.. Only if there were one....

Fair points from both sides really. Floyd hasn't fought the best available at the time whether it be because of Top rank( hasn't fought a top rank fighter since when?) and for me to give Calzaghe **** about his choice of opponents for many years would be hypocritical( Calzaghe obviously had Frank W00ren as a promoter but just like Floyd excuses are excuses especially if they add up.)

Floyd is one of the smartest, most gifted boxers of all time when he steps into the ring but that even that is normally once a year and not against whom you had hoped it to be.

I think though what the op is trying to say though is how would you see Floyd ranked atg if he fought those guys?

so all responses from idiots saying he would never do it and he's void etc just go to show how many complete ******s are allowed to use the internet these days.

That goes both ways so stop putting it squarely on Floyd's shoulders. Would you ever see them turn down a multi-million dollar fight over some random drug testing? Hell no. Lets be real. Pac says yes to testing back in 2009 when the 50/50 was agreed upon by both parties. This fight would have been old news in present day.

To the TS, its pretty simple. His critics wouldn't even be able to deny after those wins. You can forget the haters. That's why they're called haters.

He's already an ATG, but if he wants to reach the upper echelon where he greats like Leonard and Sanchez are mentioned he needs to beat his arch rivals Pacquiao and Maravilla.
