Only problem is Kotelnik clearly beat Alexander.

Alexander was demoted to #3 and Kahn promoted to #2 for decent reasons, for performances and results in recent fights. People don't keep rankings until they are beaten, they have to maintain them and other fighters can leap fog them if their performances warrant it . Theres a very strong case for Alexander not doing enough to keep the #3 spot in light of the Kotelnik fight and Kahn beating Maidana.

Bradley was just unlucky with the timing of the fight, he got to Alexander too late. I don't think he has any "right" to be Ring champ under the current rules TBH.

It wasn't a 'close decision', it was a robbery. That was why he was demoted.

i don't believe the bradley thing is really messed up as i don't think devon was the second best fighter at the weight and it doesn't really what way you rank number 1 and 2 as they still have to fight to be champ.also bradley will beat khan when they fight

They probably made Bradley vs Alexander at the worst possible time.

It's easy to say it now, but they'd have been best making it when Alexander stopped Urango - which seemed very impressive.

Kotelnik was of course picked as the guy he could look dazzling against, win easily on points or become the first to stop him..... of course anyone with eyes scored the fight to Kotelnik.

The fight was crap, now we've got Bradley balking at a career high payday, and Alexander getting another gift decision against Matthysse.

Not sure what it is about this new generation of American fighters at all..... but it's pretty grim.

Not enough people speak up about **** like this. People who post on here appear to be more than casual fans (in most cases), yet still insist on talking about these meaningless belts and titles as if they were no more educated than a typical Sun reading armchair fan.

Before Haye fought Wlad there was a thread on here discussing the riumour that Haye's WBA belt (or whatever trinket it was) might not be at stake. Now, everybody knows that WBA titles are joke, but the way everybody was talking you'd think it was the biggest outrage in boxing history.

    We're hypocrites.

BTW, who's Ricky Burns fighting next?

I think we're getting back to a version of the lineal rankings again in that its like once Bradley is number 1 he's there until he loses and once Alexander gets to #2 he keeps that ranking until he loses but that argument is flawed from the out set because thats not how fighters are ranked.

If a fighter gives poor performances or a lower ranked fighter give sufficiently impressive showings then the rankings will be adjusted to reflect that even if the fighter getting demoted hasn't lost.

I know that Dave, I checked before I made the post but Khan had also beaten Maidana BEFORE Bradley-Alexander happened. Two decent reasons for dropping Alexander to #3 and causing Bradley-Alexander to not be for The Ring title.

On the balance of the 2 performances, a shitty performance from Alexander and Khan then beating the #4 contender, if Alexander didn't get demoted in August after Kotlenik theres every chance it would have happened in December anyway after Khan-Maidana.
