Nobody support and cheer for our boxers more than myself, but let's not get carried away.We shouldnt become a "freddy-walker" type of fan.
Some people are already stating than Rigondeaux will beat the kind of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd. And that make us sound like freddy himself.
Rigondeaux is a beast,a natural and his future seems to be a great one.
But he still has to prove himself against a tough competition.Cordoba will be a thermometer and i expect to see Rigo looking great.
Manny Pacquiao is already established at another level, the highest one -and his frame have been developed into a much bigger man than Rigo. They dont belong together in a ring.
Same as gamboa- who is the most advanced so far with 2 belts. He still has a long way to go.Like Casamayor did yrs ago.
    I hope soon we'll see Lara,Rigo,Ugas,Solis and many more holding a belt.:happy

Imagine the boxing world today had the Cubans been allowed to go pro? Best boxing program on the planet.

I agree that you guys have got to calm down on the Cuban fighters. I mean Gamboa is very naturally talented but he's getting put down in every single fight(So is Juanma, but he's fighting a much higer level of competition IMO).

Solis is a fat **** and won't amount to anything because of that. Massive waste of talent.

Rigo is a beast but Cordoba is a very good fighter, and that's a good test for him IMO. The only thing he doesn't have on his side is age.

Lara I like, but I don't think he'll ever be a P4P fighter. Still very good though.

Among all the Cuban fighters, I like Lara the most. Gamboa has a nice fighting style but it seems that his chin will not hold on in the higher level of competition.

I'm not that concern with Gamboa's chin because so far i havent seen him really rocked by any punch, but he needs to work on his balance.Rigo is way more technical than him but nobody has hit him clean yet so i dont know about his chin.Lara got rocked once but he managed to survive the round on his feet.Solis has a granite chin but against the Klitskos could be a different story. The other guys ,Johnson,Dorticos,Franco,Ugas and company still have lot to prove.

theres alot of cuban fighters that defected....and nothing that makes your head turn as the ones that have went pro...
    diobelys hurtado?
    JL Gonzalez?
theres a few in the current crop that have already accumulated losses

the cuban amateurs always seem 10 levels above everyone else because simple fact remains most are "professional" amateurs.....wheres as most other amateurs turn pro quickly and move on

Hurtado's only problem-and a big one-was his chin. But let's no forget he became world champ and gave Pernell whitaker everything he could handle.
JL Gonzalez was a very average HW-his size and decent jab got him in a position to be a contender.
But remember Casamayor,a very solid FW-LW.
There are several names that we'll never know how good they could have been as a pro.
Jorge Hernandez,Adolfo Horta,Teofilo Stevenson,Felix Savon,Angel Herrera,Dubergel,Aldana,Balado,Vinent,..wow, so many names... But i dont like to especulate...the true is: this is the first time that a wave of solids cubans boxer are able to defect and are aiming to win a few a belts and become serious contenders...if their attitud doesnt derail their goals.

Oh their have been a few defectors over the years but imagine if the guys were allowed to go pro freely even as far back as Stevenson and Savon. I have a feeling the boxing world today and yesterday would have a whole different look.

what a dumb statement... what do you mean by a lot? can you give me more than 10 names of cuban defectors in the last 50 years without counting the recent ones that everyone knows about (without looking in Boxrec)? Of course you can't, because there's almost none. Wanna know an interesting fact? In the last 50 years there has never been more cuban pros than we have today. You know how much that is? Not even 50 cuban pro boxers!! Out of ~50 boxers we already have an unified champ and almost 10 others officially ranked in the top 15 of either WBO/WBA/WBC/IBF. Plus, some of them are having their first title shot very soon (Rigo in two weeks, Solis early next year, Lara probably sometime next year, etc.). And the funny part is that in the ~50 cuban boxers currently active, i'm counting cuban americans that did not learn their boxing in cuba. so yeah, as i said, your statement is kinda stupid homie
