Kessler had good speed, power and ability back then... His jabs and right hands was thunderous.. he has clearly lost a step..

Based on this he was the tourney favorite going in, but time and wear took their toll.

In reality (as Ross Amber says) his main asset was his precision... and when the eyes went.....

You could see in the Perdomo fight he was missing punches left and right.

Not so much that as he came up against a better fighter in Ward.

He went on and beat a top fighter in Froch AFTER the Ward fight.

Yes, but he did that purely on guts, and a style his trainer said was the only way he could win with bad eyesight. It was obvious he had bad precision, and we know now what was wrong.

Hopefully his eyes are now getting better again.

Will he ever be at the same level again? I don't think anyone knows.

Kessler in 2007, would win the super six dominant. And that comes from an Froch fan

I'm sure that Ward would have beaten any version of Kessler. Eye problem or not, would not change the outcome. It's a matter of speed and beating the other guy to the punch.

Kessler did have better foot movement back in 2007, but he always fought straight up like many Europeans do, therefore that style is always tailor made for opponents with quick reflexes and above average hand speed.

There is a difference between fighting C level fighters like Beyer, Mundine(which Kessler said he had to dig deep to win, ****in Mundine, dig deep lol,) and Andrade.

And fighting a Gold Medalist Olympian, and a World Title runner up.

The first time he stepped up in class he got dominated. Prototypical protected Eurofighter.

Maybe when you guys get someone as good as Mayweather, or Hopkins you wont have to make excuses such as age and injury. Hell Joe Frazier fought with one eye his entire career.

It was said in a recent documentary. Futch's son backed it up.
