I see you fail at keeping things in context.

If a fighter beat three RING champs right now how would you feel about him?
What if Pavlik right beat Calzaghe and Hopkins....would that not matter b/c he hasnt fought Diaconou, Johnson and Dawson?

I guess it depends on how highly you value Ring rankings.

Well Hatton and Judah at the very least were the "man who beat the man".....

Which is, to my understanding, how TR typically operates. Personally, I think the Ric Flair system is unreliable in boxing. :yep

Well, you gotta put some value in unification right? Otherwise, if Ring, Unification, AND random ABC belts mean nothing, well.....how do we know who's good?

Sure. I'm just wary of funneling all the weight of a division onto the shoulders of one guy at a time, except in very clear cases where the #1 and #2 are head and shoulders above #3 and below...like SMW last year.

Fair enough. Case by case basis.

I don't know for sure that Judah, despite holding all 3 titles at WW was ever the best WW.

Hatton perhaps may have been the 3rd best JWW even though he beat the champion who unified.

It is all getting complicated. But the problem isn't with putting the weight on one fighter because he beat "the man". The problem is getting him to fight worthy challengers thereafter to continue to prove he should hold such status.

alright, lets not put any fighters win into context.

If Hopkins beats Calzaghe, it doesnt matter. Calzaghe is a blown up light heavy and isnt great at light heavyweight....he doesnt even have a win at that weight! Any fighter can beat 3 ring champions- at his weight, the weight above and the weight under.
