i dunno... pavllik's 6'3 and would likely benefit by fighting at 168. his power would carry to that weight.

    C money has it right.

Why must we degrade these guys?

Why is it impossible that Kelly Pavlik wins? He just got done KOing 3 good fighters in a row that were never KOed, including the undisputed MW champ.

It's funny really, that there is a pretty good parallel between the Lacy-Calzaghe fight and the Pavlik-Miranda fight. Both Pavlik and Calzaghe were known as good fighters, but the main public still doubted they could beat their less refined but seemingly more powerful opponets.

Pavlik looks like he could be trouble for anyone 168 or 160. Does that mean he'll necessarily beat Joe C.? Well, no, but it means that he should be looked at as a CREDIBLE opponet. There are worse things to show the world than having the heart to get up off the canvas and come back to knock out the middleweight champion. Pavlik has KOed 29 of 32 opponets, and he might be one of the best punchers in MW history, it is surely too early to tell, but he has all the tell-tale signs one would expect.

Both Calzaghe and Pavlik throw TONS of punches, I think it would be a good fight. Does it mean Pavlik won't get KOed? No. Does it mean CALZAGHE won't get KOed. No, not that either. We can't be 100% sure what will happen.

But I mean, seriously guys, we have to want to see this fight right? I'd much rather see it than Hopkins-Calzaghe in any case.

Hmm, actually, Pavlik-Calzaghe is more like Calzaghe-Veit, may look exactly the same.

Which one though, Veit 1 or Veit 2?

    I see chins about even.

Stamina, I believe goes to Pavlik.

    Speed, goes to Kessler.

    Footwork, goes to Kessler.

    Power, goes to Pavlik.

Accuracy, even. Can't just judge him (Pavlik) on the JT fight.

    Jab, Pavlik hands downs.

    Determination, Pavlik.

Heart, Pavlik, although Kessler left his in the ring.

pavlik doesn't have the defense for calzaghe's quick slap-like punches on the inside. but i wouldnt mind seeing the fight, pavlik is young and hungry.

You are way off. You think Pavlik has a better chin than Kessler....based on what? Kessler has never been dropped in his entire career and Pavlik was nearly KO'd in two by an average punching Taylor and also dropped by Mathias Bedburdick, who ever he is.

And sorry but Kessler has a better jab too. Things like "determination" seem a bit meaningless and both men seem pretty determined.

The fact is if they fought they would trade and Kessler has a great chin with good power, and Pavlik is an average chin at best with very good power. Pavlik gets KO'd.

Strike, your right about one thing regarding his chin; he's been down. That's it. Never Ko'ed. Shown great recovery skills. Kessler took some huge shots from Calzaghe and showed a good chin. Not discrediting him, but I also believe Pavlik punch by punch, could take those same shots.

Kessler is WAAAY bigger than Pavlik, an inch in height and reach does not a bigger man make.

This a nutthuggin Calzaghe thread and a Pavlik hater thread, you guys are pathetic. Both men have had impressive wins, Pavlik has done more this year, and has a better future being only 25, 31-0-0 (29 KO) which is impressive in its own right. Pavlik has plenty of time to do wayyy more than Calzaghe within multiple divisions. You guys that hate on Pavlik are wasting your time cause hes gonna be here for a long long while.

Calzaghe would be better off running into traffic as opposed to getting a serious beatdown and certain whiplash treatment followed by a short nap via the hands of Kelly Pavlik.
