I just want you to remind you of the fact that Cotto isn't even a 160lbs fighter. Three weeks after starting training Cotto, Freddy Roach said publicly he wanted Cotto back at 147lbs. I don't know about you guys, but I think Freddy Roach knows a little bit about boxing. I remember when Roy Jones beat John Ruiz. Everybody thought Jones was GOD. When in fact Ruiz couldn't box for ****. People also forgets that Martinez was the favorite. IF people know so much, why didn't their money on Cotto? Let's say Sergio wasn't 100%. It is still a great accomplishment by Cotto. Everybody tought he was going to box and try to get a decision. If Martinez knees were the problem it made sense to make him move a lot. But Cotto went for blood in the very first round. Cotto fought a great fight. Period
Cotto did what he had to do and on paper it's a great accomplishment. He had the balls to go up and take on Sergio...mad props for that. Still doesn't change the fact that Martinez was a shell of his former self. IMO, Cotto should have never left 147 and the jump to 154 was a lazy one, as he never really seemed to be in top shape for any of his bouts at that weight aside from the Mayweather fight.
HBO wants Cotto to fight Golovkin next, but Cotto will not come near him. Golovkin will knock Cotto out without any trouble and Cotto knows it. Pac beat the living hell out of Cotto, made him a bloody mess, stopped him................
We all agree on what you said. We just think Golovkin, who Martinez has been ducking for two years, is better than Cotto at 160. We're still waiting for your argument for Cotto being the top dog at 160.:think
The pressure will be on Cotto to fight a big name in Dec. let's all hope it is GGG, but probably Canelo if he wins.
There is ZERO chance, hes ever going back to 147. He'd have to kill himself to get back there, especially at his age. He hasnt fought at 147 in 5 years.
