Honestly though Vitali's comp since his comeback has been great - Peter, Gomez & Arreola had a combined record of 101-2-0 when he faced them and all 3 were ring ranked. Johnson is ranked number 10 by the ring and undefeated, and to be honest it's better to have him step up than see the same old faces the WBA churn out getting title shots for beating nobodies.

After Vitali brutalizes him, he is certain to face the best available challenger as well, the man is a good champ to have.

 

Also like to add that next year I would like to see heavyweight title fights with Vitali, Wlad, Haye, Chambers, Povetkin, Boystov, Adamek, Solis & Pianeta - and to see the guys coming off losses to make good comeback progress.

KO KIDD I dont disagree that many of these fighters are undeserving of a straight shot, but how does Kevin Johnson have a better resume than these. Convince me Kevin Johnson is deserving.... I cant buy "he's undefeated" sadly many people will.

 

I also think that undefeated is acceptable criteria in this case and who knows could suprise us, he can hit and he's got a slugger's chance IMO..... does Holyfield deserve yet another shot, no way, and I've always liked him

 

Agreed except for sluggers chance. Vitali has never really been rocked before. Johnson low KO percentage against crap opposition. However like many say its heavyweight guys over 201 everybody can punch hard everybody has a shot.

 

Exactly these guys dont deserve a straight shot therefore Johnson is readily available. You proved my point. Name somebody more qualified and readily available.

 

Have another think if you think what you have said is right... he is undefeated by beating a series of fighters none of which was in the top 50... so by definition a fighter is allowed to fight for a world title fight by avoiding the best 50 fighters at any time. Do you really think that is acceptabe criteria?
