Danny jacobs will come again. He was just too green and under prepared for pirog. He might not have enough power to discourage someone like pirog. He will go back to the drawing board and work on movement for the future to deal with someone like pirog. But yea he will be back.

Mate I don't know what you were watching. Jacobs was not cocky in there, he was panicking because his pitter patter shots had no effect on Pirog. He was running with a look of panic on his face. I remember seeing Jacobs against Walker and thinking it was a close fight. Jacobs just doesn't have explosive power, he looks weak and guys like Pirog are always going to take him out. Reminds me alot of a guy here in Australia who was hyped up named Willie Kickett who also got knocked out coming up. They both throw the same pushing, arm punches. Jacobs isn't coming back.

All JAcobs needs to do to become a world beater is learn how to defend himself a little bit better and he can stay in range and let his natural offensive ability take over. As things stand he's a little too open and that doesn't allow him to be patient enough with his shots at the top level.

    I disagree,

Although Jacobs is talented he would still be entering the ring with the same faults which Pirog would again take advantage of. In the first two rounds Pirog caught the majority of Jacobs punches on the gloves or avoided them altogether, he was also able to manouvre Jacobs around the ring quite easily. If Jacob's had a little bit of dig the fight would most likely had lasted longer as Pirog would have kept the successful gameplan he had in those two rounds instead of become too comfortable in the proceeding rounds, the result however would probably be the same:good

You are right, on the animated avatar I saw of that sequence it doesn't really look like a punch--from the angle it was shot at anyways. I had not seen any replay of it at the time I made that statement. But, I still contend he got KO'd because he wasn't keeping his hands up. Instead of throwing that jab, he should've been on the defensive. But, live and learn I guess.

Jacobs is garbage, regardless of his chin. I never thought much of him, but his effort throughout this fight was enough to let me know he'll never even reach the world class, which is saying something in the talent-devoid era we're in. All flash and no substance, and not particularly standout in the athleticism department (his strength), either. Just a mediocre hype-job.

I figured it'd be a close fight and even edged Jacobs heading in to it- how well Pirog responded to his first US fight really surprised me. I give Dmitry all the credit for how he handled it; you'd never guess he was the visiting fighter by his attitude.

As for Danny, it's looking like he'll be taking the Andy Lee route to building back up. Some of the mistakes in there he was making weren't encouraging, but the good news is he's still got plenty of time to learn from the loss and get better. There's a number of examples of guys get KO'd early on and rebound back to bigger and better things, including 2 of my top 3 current P4P fighters, Pac and Wlad. There's also a number of guys who are never the same after that kind of loss. At 23 it's too soon to bury him, but it's also no slam dunk he builds from the defeat.

So, as for which way he'll go, it's impossible to tell just yet. I'm an optimistic person though, so I'd like to think he'll bounce back and become a better fighter for it.

Froch legs wobble after Hits from Dirrell and his chin suddenly became a weakness for many, Calzaghe at 37 got dropped twice and for many he suddenly became weak chinned to many, its just the nature of these boards. Like a group of hungry predators ready to tear anyone apart for showing any possible signs of weakness, no matter how out of context they may be.

Pirog was on his way to getting jobbed by the WBO and Golden Boy, so I am glad he sparked out Jacobs for the sake of boxing. I don't know how the judges could have had Jacobs ahead on the scorecards, he was barely landing anything. Pirog also nearly sent him flying in round 2 only for the ropes to hold him up.

I can't see Jacobs reaching the top. His hands are too low and his Chin has been cracked now.
