You are partially correct, only when you draw comparison to Lewis you must take into account that Lewis was dominating Rahman in that fight when Rahman landed that punch. In this fight, you can say it was competitive but the fact is that Pirog was in command and his punches were having a big effect on the opponent. He nearly got a knockout in the 2nd round. Also, Jacob's punches didnt have much effect on Pirog.

its alryt mate, i got my answer.

the silence proves that most guys on here were calling Khan a hype job back when he got KO'd, but now that their man got KO'd they got no answer.

Erislandy Lara would take this jacobs hype job to school

He wasn't just beaten by that punch. Pirog beat him in every way. He slipped every punch, made Jacobs miss so often. Jacobs just isn't as talented as Pirog.

    Spot on.

The kid needs hardening up with a bit of experience he'll get there.I also think he is used to fighting what Floy says "straight up and down,no special effects" type of BOXER.Pirog is an awkward pressure fighter unpredictable with his movements and **** something Jacobs has never seen.Pirog cuts the ring off well and deadly accurate switching to the head and body nice evasive moves. Good jab he got it all.He is a better BOXER than Jacobs.

I've never been completely sold on Jacobs. Ever since the Walker fight I've said I thought Danny was missing some things. However, boxing history is full of guys who lost early fights, guys who lost as young contenders, and guys who failed in their first attempt at a world title. Some of those guys turned into all time greats, some never made it to the upper echelon, some turned into journeyman, and some just faded away. It's really to early to tell what will become of Danny Jacobs.

agreed. He was winning the fight before that shot landed. I think he'll bounce back, he's got the talent, just needs to tighten his game up. I'm not taking anything away from pirog though, he's more crafty than i thought.

I made the mistake of reading some ESB threads before I had a chance to watch the fight. What I thought I was gonna see was Danny Jacobs being thoroughly outclassed and beat from post to post.

What I actually saw was Danny Jacobs winning 3 out of 4 rounds before getting caught with a fantastic shot that he might have even been able to get up from. The ref should have gone the full 10-count, imo. If he can't get up or looks wobbly when he gets up, THEN call the fight.

I was very impressed with Pirog tho. Definitely wouldn't call DJ a "hype job" based on this loss.

Out of curiosity, what made you give the first to Jacobs? I didn't see him land anything and Pirog landed the better shots (and more of them) in that round.

It's not about getting KO'd in this sport bro. You're ****in silly. Getting KO'd or taking a loss or even getting a cut is expected when you are challenging yourself at the highest levels.

It's not about how you start your career or how many times you get knocked down....it's all about how you FINISH your career and how many times you pick yourself up that means the most in this sport.

Danny did well....he's still a very good prospect with a lot of talent and skills to boot. He just faced a style and opponent that was a little too much too soon. If he did loose his Grandmother the night before that could have had an effect but I still think Pirog's style would have caused Danny problems all night.

A rematch too soon wouldn't be a good idea for Danny. I think he needs some "get back" fights to re-build his brand and more importantly his confidence. I think the loss will ultimately make him better.

It was pretty even, if I recall correct I felt like Jacobs hit him more (not sure on the stats, perhaps it was more perception) and Jacobs had better ring generalship in that round. Jacobs looked like he had more control of the fight, from what I remember.

TBH, I'd have to watch it again, but I remember having it the same as the ringside judges.
