You know you lose muscle as well if you run a lot? Which is why long distance runners look the way they do. You also cant be telling me that him losing 35 lbs was just fat either, a significant % of it would of also been muscle
Which scale do you believe the official scales used to weigh fighters or HBO bathroom scales? Also it not physically possible for a fighter to put on 20 lbs of muscle in that time frame
No, the actual doctor who did the official weigh-in said he made the mistake and that Jones was actually 199lbs. And the fact that he re-weighed himself after the weigh in and it came out to 202 lbs confirmed that Jones was a lot closer to 200 lbs than 190. And of course, he didn't put on only 20 lbs of muscle. But with the help of Macky Shilestone, he added weight the right way. Adding muscle mass in the process while still maintaining a low body fat%.
Well, the guy who weighed them admits he rushed them on and off and never balanced the scale. Mackie said he weighed 200, he weighed him before and after. There's a video of Jones getting on another scale and weighing 199. So yea, Im going to go with he's not 193. Specially when John Ruiz was lower than he normally came in at.
ooks like Roid Jones is peaking on the clearr and cream in this one A Balco creation......just ask Barry Bonds
I do not beleive for one minute that the weight loss had an effect on him, Roy just ran into a hungry fighter in Tarver who wanted what Roy had very badly... Tarver and you could clearly see this in the 1st and 2nd fight, he studied Jones, the 2nd fight he was able to take advantage of Roys pulling back on the ropes But even in the 1st fight Tarver had an idea of what to do with a guy like Roy... I dont blame the weight, I honestly feel that Jones over looked Tarver or fell out of love with the sport, he just hasnt seemed to have the same mind set since winning a portion of the HW championship... and why should he,,,,,? it doesnt get any bigger than being the HW champ of the world....
Roy lost a good 15 lbs of pure muscle to get back to LHW, and that is a fact. Boxrec warriors just look at his weight on boxrec and act like it is the bible, it is a known fact that Roy was very close to 200 lbs. Roy has a very low body fat %, and it was not like he just bloated up to Heavyweight by gaining extra fat... He hired one of the best physical trainers in the world, and pretty much stacked solid muscle on his frame... He didn't look any more fat than he did at LHW, he just looked bigger, still very ripped. Anyone that honestly thinks losing even a couple pounds of muscle cannot damage your fast twitch muscle reflexes are misinformed. Imagine 10-15 lbs, and at Roy's age, that can be permanent, for someone that relied on reflexes so much, that can be catastrophic to their career which we saw. Roy's style was not gonna age like fine wine anyway, I am utterly dumbfounded that people think that weight loss did not speed up the process.
when you consider that jones is a proven anabolic steroids cheat, its not beyond the realms of possibility that he could do this
This. And for the first time in his career he had to dig deep to win in a close fight the first time against Tarver. He wasn't Superman anymore. You could tell he could careless about winning the third fight and just couldn't muster up any offense. He also couldn't muster up any offense against Bernard in the second fight though I do like that fight. It sucks for me as a Roy fan seeing him fight now because he was the reason I got into boxing. His resume is better than most people think it is good post. I don't see why he couldn't just make a slight movement down to cruiserweight first. Maybe he wanted to get bac to light heavyweight ASAP but I think he should've gone to cruiserweight after beating Ruiz.
He put on about 15 lbs of muscle with help from one of the best physical trainers in the world. It is certainly possible, it happened.
