That and even losing 2 pounds can be crucial to some fighters. Everyone's bodies are different so there are bound to be different results.

My question is, if you really feel the weight loss ****ed him up, why on earth would Roy have several more fights at that weight? I think its a **** poor excuse to discredit Tarver for great performances against Jones and Really thats what its about, the majority of fans do not like Tarver.... and that is good enough to discredit his wins.

I don't discredit Tarver, as I don't think Roy was completely shot when Tarver knocked him out.

I just think the weight loss permanently took just a bit off of his legs and reflexes, and at Roy's age he was already slowly declining anyway.

Roy never would have had a style that aged well in his later years, just because it relied so much on reflexes, you take off even a shade of those reflexes and its lights out. That is just the way he fought, with almost no textbook defense... Then you add a fighter that dedicated his life to beating him on top of that...

I don't think a fighter aging is really an excuse, more or less a fate that all fighters have to come to terms with at one point or another.... Some sooner, some later.

I agree 100%. I believe that if Jones did not play the weight game, he could have been extremely effective even into his forties. Even in his current shot state, his hand speed is still almost unmatchable as was seen in the Lacy fight. Jones beat himself with those decisions that he made in 2003-2004. He played with his body and paid with his legacy.

I think he would have eventually been knocked out anyway. Based on his style and aging abilities. The weight loss definitely sped up the process in my opinion, especially against a fighter that was inspired to beat him from day one.

He was not like a Hopkins, who had perfect textbook skills... Had Hopkins dropped the weight and lost a bit of legs, his skills would have taken him further than Roy's did.

I also blame Roy for thinking Tarver was a lucky puncher that finally got him, instead of going back to the drawing board and realizing that he had to come up with something else... But at the age of 35, you can't really unlearn all the things that made you great for which you built a hall of fame career on, which I eventually think he tried to alter his style a little bit, using the high guard, being more of a stationary fighter, but he was too old to make them totally useful against world class opposition. Almost like an old ****** trying to swim like a fish, after taking a boat his whole life.

So let me read this a bit here, your saying he took off 15 pounds of pure muscle leaving the other ten pounds as pure fat? I dont even think Roy had that much fat on him at all....
he took off 25 pounds, and did it over 9 months time.... I am sure he did it the right way, he has been a pro for years and has had a long amateur career as well...

the other 10lbs is the water weight.

Im pretty sure Jones was regularly coming in at 185 at LHW.

15lbs too lose, is a lot in 9 months. (muscle)

On top of that, he stayed around 200lbs trying to set up a Tyson fight.

The same reason Pacquaio eats 7000 calories a day to maintain his weight.

You intake more calories than you burn, you gain weight.

I don't think it was a matter of Jones being less skilled at all. Actually, I think Hopkins has been very aware of this and he has even said that he would not go back down in weight after rising. If Hopkins had dropped back down to 160 and fought Wright and Pavlik there like he should have, then the comparison could be made. Mayweather wasn't even willing to go down to 140 to fight Hatton, Hatton had to come up. These guys that are supposedly technically superior to Jones are not doing what Jones did. If they would do it, I think we would see that Jones' decline had more to do with the weight game he played rather than some deficiency in learned boxing skills.

It takes years to add muscle like that without any cardio !!

Pac couldnt eat 7000 calories a day even if he eat burger king and drank coke all the damn time, and even then it would not be muscle.

Pacs not eating 7000 calories a day of bad carbs nor complex carbs, and Jones never added that much in muscle in that short amount of time, this is simply facts, you cant do this stuff naturally !!

Look Jones did put the weight on sure, but is not pure muscle and if it is then hormones was involved.
