watched it over and over, i dont' think he was faking it. AA's hit made dirrell's head snap back into place super quickly, that scary quick twitch when you know the fight is over.

plus, AA, known for his power, winds up and cracks dirrell who is not ready to defend, whose muscles are not taught in preparedness...

no fake. drama later perhaps, but the initial thing is not fake as far as i can tell.
it's not like he decided, with stars in his eyes, that now is the time to fake ****.
there may be an element of giving up, and thinking that he just lost by KO, i can buy that, but i can't see him faking that moment at all.

Great point. There's a reason why sucker punchers are a lot more dangerous than than shots you see coming even when it has the same power behind it. Your body instinctively prepares for the incoming blow even if you can't block or evade it by tightening every muscle up in anticipation. When Dirrell was on the ground, his focus was on getting up, not on preparing for incoming fire. And again, Abraham is a MONSTROUS puncher. Put two and two together and, well, if Abraham couldn't knock out Dirrell under those circumstances, then any hope of him knocking out Dirrell under legitimate circumstances over the final four and a half minutes was just a pipe dream.

Faked or not, AA should of been DQ'd anyway. Right result at the end of the day.

First of all, slow motion skews your perception when watching certain replays. Watch it in full motion. Both fighters were exhausted and Abraham just threw the punch instinctively.

Secondly I felt throughout the fight that Dirrell was taking those punches just fine. He ate some MONSTER punches that would have knocked a lot of middleweights out. I don't know how or why but he did.

I think at the onset of fatigue Dirrell was looking for a way out. In another thread someone hinted that he might have been trying to draw the same foul on Froch.

Thing is yea, Abraham wasn't hurting him at all with a single punch. Abraham usually turns it up though in the championship rounds if he's behind and he was way behind. Dirrell knew it, saw a chance to end the fight and he did by acting the part. The hospital results all but confirm this for me. Maybe Dirrell skates to a 12 round UD. Maybe Abraham catches up with him.

Point is now we'll never know, because Cole and Dirrell successfully stopped the fight. Less of a fault on Cole's part, Abraham gave him the door, Dirrell kicked it open and there you have it. It doesn't mean anything Dirrell did was admirable.

If I'm not mistaken, Danzig was badly beaten up and it was caught on video tape. One has to assume that Danzig was not faking, and that his beat down was genuine.
