Do you prefer how it was back then, where you could only watch fights as they aired or as you had on tape, or how it is now where most fights are accessible without any real problem?
I was thinking about this earlier when I was looking for physical copies of fights with my boyfriend, and he had a hard time understanding that I preferred having less access to matches. Obviously, it comes from how you grew up and how you learned to appreciate media, but I think fights feel a lot better to watch when you have less of em readily available.
I enjoy the feeling of sitting down and watching a fight without the option to fast-forward through it, or look up the outcome beforehand, or this or that.

Im young, so every fight iv wanted to watch has been readily available for me. But honestly I feel it makes me value them less. Knowing I can rewind the video or rewatch the fight at any time makes me pay less attention. I cant imagine the focus you’d have if this was the ONE time you could see a fight. But I am thankful for modern technology allowing me to view the legends of the past.

It just wakes me wish I could've watched boxing like guys used to, instead of having just about everything for free.

Yea man I get it… I can only imagine what it was like watching Fraizer vs Ali 1 with your boys on the couch. Sounds amazing. Hopefully we get someone to come save boxing like Tyson did.

I really enjoyed the feeling I got from watching Usyk - Fury, but it was just me and my little brother, and he's not too into boxing. I feel like the way people used to talk about watching Saturday night fights just seemed so mythical. I know that feeling, but only barely- I used to wake up early when I was a kid to watch a Saturday morning block, but even that stuff got phased out. Convenience is the thing that makes stuff less entertaining.

There's a charm in getting to be the salty old ******* who remembers when things were harder and less easy to access. It DID make you really appreciate it in real time though. My weekend was built around getting to watch televised fights on free network TV, and I knew almost to the day when the different boxing magazines would be on the newsstands. It was a delicious sort of ritual, one which I remember really fondly and I feel sorry for the younger fans who nowadays don't get to have that amazing sense of anticipation.

Every old person I talk to NEVER fails to mention “Saturday night fights” which sounds so cool… the boxing revival better come real soon.

But yeah, I like watching any and all old fights whenever I want on YouTube. Love that.

It's not a bother to me that I no longer have that sense of anticipation because I don't follow modern boxing and can't see the sport through the same new eyes anyway even if I did follow it.

Yeah, I guess you kinda had the perfect mesh of both. You got to experience what it was like in real time, and now when you don't care so much about the current sport, you get to go back and watch just about everything you'd ever want to with ease.

Yeah man I remember those days, in fact I was just looking through some of my old boxing magazines and was shocked to see famous managers advertising with their address and phone number, looking to book their Fighters, like Lou Duva, Manny Steward, people like that.

In response to the op, I've been a boxing fan for 50 years now and I was very lucky when I was young because my father had some of the earliest betamax machines available and he had loads of fights on beta tape that I got to watch whenever I wanted which was awesome.

But there was nothing like the excitement of a live fight!

I hope that I get the chance to tell kids in the future about how good I had it in my day, heh. I'm a bit short of one year of being a fan of and training boxing myself, so I got a long way to go.

You're probably getting to see a lot of great classic flights for the first time, there's nothing like seeing them the first time.

There is so much great classic boxing available for free these days and in the best possible quality, it certainly is a good time to be a fan in that regard that's for sure.
