I don't remember my scorecard but I thought Taylor deserved the nod in the first meeting. Hopkins did next to nothing in the first few rounds and left it too late to claw back the lead Taylor had over him.

Hopkins did just enough for me in the secind fight. It was a tough fight to score and there was little action, but from what I saw Hopkins just did enough.

Taylor edged Hopkins by a hair in both fights. He simply outworked him. But both were so close, if Hopkins got the nod either time, I wouldn't have complained.

In my eagerness to not let the boss catch me on esb I clicked draw both times, but really I felt JT edged both of the fights fairly.

Deep down, both fights were too tactical for PPV type fans........ B-Hops took too much time to get going.... I think 160 in 2005 was draining Hops too much by then..... Jermain Taylor looked more fresh and stronger at 160 in 2005...... I have no problem with both decisions....:hat

Why keep beating a dead horse?

    Hopkins lost...and that's official.

First one was a one to two point win for Taylor. The second fight was a sleepy draw with neither guy doing anything convincing. Taylor should take a fight with Hopkins at a catch weight if he really wants to get back on top.

Honestly I can't remember them exactly how they went, but although B-Hop beat Taylor pretty bad in the later rounds, at the end of the fight I had Taylor slightly ahead in my scorecard. The second fight was also very close, but again I gave it to Taylor, he just seemed to win more rounds and looked stronger than B-Hop when pushing the action.

This is pretty much how I remember them going.

Both were very close fights and one could score them either way. I felt the first fight was closer than the second but in the end i scored in the same as the judges - both for Taylor.

I'm glad you started this thread as I watched the first fight just a few days ago.

First I want to say that I hadnt watched it live so the first thing I heard was that it was a robbery. So I watched the rematch first and to my surprise I couldnt see how you could give Hopkins more than 5 rounds. It was a close fight but Taylor clearly won. And just recently I watched their first fight and again had Taylor winning 7-5 although in the first one you could make a case for a draw but there is no way Hopkins was robbed.

Hopkins 'winning' these fights is becoming a bit of a myth.

Exactly I mean **** these guys are grasping at straws. Hopkins throws 12 punches lands 4 with the other guy 24/50 and they are pointing to clean punches as if the other guy didnt touch Hopkins at all.

    In my view:

Taylor won the first 115-113. He took all of the first 8 rounds, with the exception of the 5th; Hopkins won all of the rest, and clearly proved his ring superiority down the stretch when he dominated rounds.

Hopkins won the rematch 116-112. They split the first 6 rounds 3 apiece, and Hopkins swept the final 6 with the exception of the 11th round.

    So 1-1.
