To those who said Cintron had a chance...

As many have already stated, Cintron clearly has the tools to beat Margarito. He just didn't use any of them.

Personally, I blame Steward. They had the wrong game plan and training. You don't try to beat and inside fighter by fighting inside... unless you're better on the inside. If not, keep it at a distance. That's basic...

 

I think that if he fights Margarito that he will get knocked out ... Margarito has an iron chin, and is always in great shape. I think that Margarito will bait Cotto into a brawl and force him to fight. I think that at some point in the fight Cotto will abandon his defense ... His chin is suspect and I wouldn't be surprised if he got knocked out by the mid point in the fight.

 

I'd say that Gomez fought a better fight against Cotto than Cintron did against Margarito. Granted Cotto was faster, stronger and better skilled and Gomez didn't have a chance. But if Gomez had pulled some of the stupid stuff Cintron was doing ( ducking to waist level, complaining to the ref, failing to keep a proper distance from a stronger opponent ) then Gomez would have been carried out of the ring in a stretcher after the first round.

 

I hope you are right. I like Margarito & not really crazy about Cotto. It will be a great fight, for sure! He really knows how to smother his man in close & this is what he did to Cintron. He'll need a good game plan against Cotto, because that dude is strong!

 

Cotto will have to dig deep and give it all he's got for every minute for every round.

Because Margarito is not going to stop coming ... he's never been knocked out before and I doubt Cotto will be the first.

Margarito has the better chin and better stamina ... he could keep up that high work-rate for the whole 12 rounds.

Cotto has a suspect chin and will truely be tested against a guy who would tap on that chin quite a bit ...

 

Exactly. I originally called this a 60/40 fight for Margo and then changed it to 50/50 simply because I figured Steward would have his man box, not be ******ed and try to out-bomb Margo again atsch . Completely wrong gameplan and infact the worst gameplan they could have possibly devised for Cintron......seriously. Didn't anyone notice how easily Cintron landed on Margo when he was relaxed and just boxing? Instead of doing that though (there was about one round total that he did) he became flat footed and CONSTANTLY dropped his left hand which gave Margo the open invitation to hit him at will. There were a couple rounds where I don't think he even had his left hand up AT ALL the entire round atsch . Then he started to cry to the ref when Margo was pummeling him, further showing that he is an extremely mentally weak fighter. Ive said it in the past and ill say it again: you should never bet on a mentally weak fighter.

 

And to those saying that Margo can beat Cotto: atsch

If Cintron can land so easily on him what the hell do you think Cotto is going to do? Cotto is ten times the boxer of either one of them and he will probably land 60% of his shots on Margo and won't drop his left hand to constantly leave himself open. Cotto will destroy Margo since he is obviously in a different class, and im willing to bet the house on it. Cotto does EVERYTHING better than Margo that I can think of and I challenge someone to think of something that Margo can do better than him :think

 

I originaly gave Cintron a decent chance and picked him to win, but unfortunatly Kermit has turned out to be a mental midget and that will get you nowhere against Margo.

I'm leaning towards Margarito to get that shot at PBF.

Cotto boxes circles around him all day long. His workrate will be negated since Margo is easy to time and much slower and plodding compared to Cotto. By the end of the fight Margo might out-throw Cotto but I have no doubt Cotto lands more punches. And better inside fighter? I'd take Cotto in that department too. He throws much better punches coming out of clinches on his back foot and his uppercuts are devastating inside. Margo loses to Cotto or Floyd by way of boxing clinic cause theres no way he turns either match into a street fight. :bbb

 

A guy with punching power like cintron always has a chance.

 

It just wasn't fair, he wasn't punching Margo to the body so why should Margo be able to hit him there

 

Yeh and Cintron wasn't getting any timeouts when he wanted them

seriuosly , everybody give a chance to Cintron in this one , but honestly i didnt , after i saw the fightn that he did against a guy called Feliciano , i knew the guy can't make it . He needs to improved hes boxing skills , and clinching when needed, and to not to bend down

but gave the guy props for taking the rematch with Margarito
