When Mayweather stepped into 140 the top 10 was:

    1. Tyszu
    2. Judah
    3. Mitchell
    4. Cotto
    5. Harris
    6. Mayweather
    7. Hatton
    8. Gatti
    9. Witter
    10. Corley

Mayweather beat everyone in the top 10 except Tyszu/Harris/Witter/Cotto. Thats 6 top 10 fighters

Hatton retired no1 Tyszu and beat Maussa who beat no5 Harris. Witter also beat Harris recently. So Mayweather is excused from fighting Tyszu and Harris because Hatton beat them both (sort of with Harris)

Witter is very good but lost to Judah so a fight was never going to happen unless Witter got a huge name. Mayweather is excused from fighting Witter because he beat Judah who beat Witter

Cotto would not fight Mayweather throughout 2005 when Mayweather wanted the fight. Arrum said 'Cottos not ready'. mayweather should fight Cotto BUT Cotto's team ducked Mayweather throughout 2005 when Mayweather wanted the fight

He beat Hatton and Judah at 147. So your point is null and void.

They were the best 140lbers in 2005, what does it matter what weight they fought at when Mayweather weighs less on fightnight than many lightweights????

Dumb fans make too much out of weight classes

Indeed they do. But you are trying to make arguments that do not work.

Floyd did not do alot at 140. It was not his fault also he would have most probably beaten everybody. But you are trying to spin his wins to make him look better at 140 that is just not the case.

    1. Did the fights happen at 147 because Floyd was too big for 140 or so Floyd could win the Welterweight titles?
    2. Was Floyd better at 147 than 140?
    3. Does the accusation that Floyd ducked the best competition at 140 hold any water at all?
    4. Isn't it an impressive achievement to clean out a top10 list like this baring in mind people were talking about this 140 list as being the best in boxing

They aren't top 10 LWW then, they are just famous names in America.

He did not beat the people at 140.
He could and would have beaten them if he fought them. But he just did not fight them at that weight. So it does not work.

Not Floyds fault, but it is just a fact. So no he did not "duck" anybody, though I dont like the word.

Not Floyds fault, but acheivements at 147 do not affect achivements at 140.

Mitchell was considered top3 - he gave Tyszu a close encounter and beat Tackie, Phillips, Ndou. Definately a top contender

Gatti beat Dorin who was top3 at 135, he also beat Ward & Leija. Leija was considered top10 after beating Bodajo and causing Tyszu problems

Corley was a WBO titlist and took Judah to an SD

Don't try and defend Gatti mate.

It is clear in hindsight (and fore-sight for Europeans) he was never top 10 at 140.

There were actually a load of yanks who though Gatti would KO Tszyu!.

The point is Mayweather is being degraded because these fights happened at 147 instead of 140 when weight class wouldnt make the slightest difference to the result

The Judah/Hatton/Mitchell wins at 147 are pretty underrated wins too given all those fighters achievements at 140 and Judahs achievements at 147.

Know your history young Calazage fan, gatti beat top contenders Pre-2005

Dorin - undefeated WBA and IBF unified champ at 135 (robbed in a draw against Spadafora)

Leija - beat top10 Bodajo making him top 10

Ward - tough hard hitting gatekeeper

Branco - was he Euro champ?

The fights did not happen at 140. Therefore you cannot use fights that happend at another weight class to credit Floyd with wins he does not have. It is just speculation.

I fail to see your point.

Gatti was ranked top 10 yes, but were there less than 10 fighter actually better than him at 140, no.
