WTF are you talking about?! I just got to watch this fight, and it wasn't that bad. The crowd was happy even. That is the way Clottey fights everytime, and that's the way Pac fights everytime. Clottey did open up some, and delivered brutal shots to Pac. He did do better than Cotto, Hatton, and DLH COMBINED! Yeah, he should have opened up a bit more by like ROund 10, but he would have got KTFO if he opened to much. He felt the power, he felt the speed, he felt Pac had great angles, and there's no way he wouldn't get knocked out. He had the gameplan to counter Pac (in which Pac was to fast for him to counter really well), he'd push him around the ring and let Pac punch his forearms til he wore out (which never happened), and he managed to land vicious uppercuts and hooks on Pac. He didn't throw a shitload, but what he did throw had meaning. For those of you who say this fight is fixed, or Pac payed it off. MY GOD! I'd not pay a man, or step in to a fixed fight, and end up with my face looking like Pac's! I'd not be getting by head snapped back from Clottey who seemed to landing uppercuts with all his might.... I wouldn't let the **** go 12 rounds either. It was a good fight, where one guy had the wrong game plan, and when he finally realized it he was satisfied to get paid and go 12 rounds without getting KO'd! If that **** was fixed then Clottey would be absolutely the toughest SOB in the sport of boxing! obviously DLH, Hatton, and Cotto weren't fixed, but yet....Clottey did better than all those guys COMBINED! Hate to see how much of a beast he'd be then. He would beat Pac, and Money in a handicap match! :bbb PEople need to GTFO with all the hate for Pac, and give the man credit. I'm not saying he beats Mayweather for sure even (though he's my favorite), but a good win like this deserves credit.
its not so much hate for pac that has people saying this, but rather the manner in which clottey fought...he was handpicked for the biggest fight of his life and he just seemed content to just be in the ring...he didnt lay it all on the line, and it appeared that whenever he hit manny he would ease up for fear of hurting him...they were too friendly with each other, didnt seem like a real fight to me...props to manny for dominating but he didnt have a live opponent in the ring with him.
When have you ever seen a small lighteight dominate a huge welter weight like that? It was an awesome performance.
I think people are just voicing there frustrations with Clottey's complete lack of effort more than anything. You have a chance to truly make a name for yourself on your biggest platform only to just try and survive? That makes it seem like he just came in for a pay day. I don't think it was fixed, but some might feel that way because of it. The people who ordered it are probably some of the angriest people in the boxing world right now.
It looked fixed judging on the way clottey seemed to be so reluctant to put any pressure even when he was hurting pac with counters, given the fact that he knew fans were expecting a pressure fight from him since all his losses came due to lack of persistence in pressurising an opponent. I smell Arum in the mix, but also this shows clottey doesn't belong among the greats in boxing, should go back to fight in africa in clubs, not worthy to watch.
