Chisora made the decision to go for the early KO. He threw non stop bombs for 4 rounds. Problem was Usyk took the assualt and was still standing. Then Chisora was fatigued the rest of the fight. Well what did you expect? That he turn into Margarito and throw constant bombs for 12 rounds? A man his size cannot maintain that workrate. Its biologically impossible. The body cannot supply enough oxygen to a human body at that size to maintain that for 12 rounds. Usyk is going to have a massive stamina advantage at HW. Hes smaller and his stamina is already legendary. He has ATG stamina. This is how he fights. You cant fault a man because god blessed him with a great tank and he trains hard.
I give Chisora a lot of credit too. He was well conditioned, kept to his game plan, and kept coming. I thought Usyk won but it was a tough competitive fight.
He does appear a well conditioned specimen. But I'm still waiting for this scrawny Usyk to actually drop a opponent at heavyweight. These huge behemoths appear to be a bit too durable for his puny punching power. Lol
Chisora threw bombs but usyk mostly either moved out of the way, took them on the arms or when chisora did land it was just one shot. Fury and AJ dont need to close range which gives a big advantage, they dont need to lunge in. Id like to see usyk eat a well timed combination from such big guys. Usyk ran around chisora until he was gassed and then picked up the pace and did enough to outpoint him. He will have to go looking for the big guys and will probably end up looking like haye did against klitschko, too small and smothered with size and power.
I like Usyk but at times he looked uncomfortable against a slow plodding heavyweight who never had a clue how to cut the ring off.
I think Usyk has a pretty solid chin & good stamina But things change you have someone who is even bigger than Chisora, Even more physical and has even more range to work with. Chisora landed some hefty shots on him. Didn't go to the body anywhere near enough though. I was expecting Chisora to get Usyk in a high guard position and hit him through the guard with that overhand but he didn't.
If he commits to punching he will hit as hard as any 6'3" Hasim Rahman, that enough PSI to KTFO Lennox Lewis. Usyk is not mentally wired to take do-die punchers risk. He uses his boxing superiority to defeat boxers of that size, add to that that any Heavyweight with decent speed/range will be extra motivated to go in and KO Usyk, in this case false confidence can actually get Usyk stopped by fighters that he would have easily out-boxed. If Usyk must fight at Heavy (for financial reasons?), then maybe a direct fight with Anthony Joshua is best, goes in and try to do the unexpected (using Andy Snickers Ruiz blue-print)
He's obviously a bit more skilled than Rahman, but I doubt he would KO Lewis, drop Tua and stop Sanders. Ruiz would have crushed Chisora of last night's fight. These huge overweight behemoths don't seemed to be effected by Usyk's power? Maybe he would be better changing his slender frame like Gassiev. Who does appear more better suited for the heavyweight division.
I think Usyk is great and adds a lot to the heavys,,, that said, I still feel AJ and Fury beat him at this point,, maybe not convincingly but still would bet on the big guys at this point,, yes I am aware of how well Usyk did against tall guys before he turned pro at cruiser, (when he was in that WSB league thing and fought some superheavys before he turned pro at cruiser I meant above)
Its physically possible to do, Upper Elite pure boxers can switch into Puncher mode when desperate. Its very hard for them to do that, because its a mistake in their mind, convincing themselves to go into reckless punching mode is similar to convincing a person to walk comfortably nude in public. 2 identical boxers will not necessary commit to punching in the ring, although they have the same punching power. Usyk got his Gold medal boxing the way he does, he will not change overnight. He can KO heavyweights if he is scaled up to a 6'08" frame without having to change his style.
