To those who thing a 'prime' Tyson can't be hugged and tied down

smith was a crackhead bouncer part timer and he still went the distance with "prime" tyson.

But yeah...Tyson could be 'hugged' but at some point you had to try and win too...that tended to be a bit of a problem.

 

Cus D'Amato Tyson vs Manny Steward Wlad Klitschko woulda been a helluva fight, but most likely Tyson underestimated Smith, but still clearly won. In his prime and motivated, I think Tyson's own uppercut gets there faster before Wlad's, which is a heavier handed, but slower. Plus Tyson wasn't bobbing and weaving as much vs Smith. I can see Tyson reading the pattern and after the 3rd clinch or so steps to his left and does his famous left hook to the body and head and finishing with a right. Difference here is also Tyson had better chin he could take several Klit bombs before falling while I don't think Wlad would survive a Tyson onslaught. Pov got to Wlad with no bobbing and weaving and little punching power Tyson was much more versatile.

 

Except he does have 'Witherspoon KO 1' on his ledger. Chisora never will have a win of similar magnitude, because the man can't punch and he just isn't very good.
Look, Smith wasn't all that as a fighter either I agree, but the guy could hit and he was probably better than his record indicated.

Nah, in fairness Tyson did initiate a lot of clinches in his career. Still though, against Wlad we know who would iniitiate the clinches.

 

Honestly, I am dumbfounded that folk think Wlad goes the distance with Tyson. Mike cracked some quality chins in his day...Thomas...never down or out until Tyson, Tubbs...never down or out until Tyson, Holmes...never out before Tyson...Spinks...never out until Tyson.

Sure I have never said that I didn't think Tyson couldn't be hugged down. The thing is that Tyson would have landed in the fight and when he did it would be game over since Tyson is one of the hardest punchers in the heavyweight history.

 

Bruno had no Chin and no Stamina. None. Was also mentally weak. He would **** his pants against Vitali.

 

bruno would take wlad, no question but vitali would provide problems.

I wouldnt say he was mentally weak, he had lots of heart and went up against the best without thinking once of throwing in the towel. People who suffer mental illness arent mentally weak, its important to make that distinction - infn act they are often 5 times stronger mentally than someone 'sane'.
