Of course not. If Dawson wins, it will just prove how crappy Pascal is. Just like all of Dawson's other wins. The fact that Johnson went on to beat Mack and then fight about even with Cloud right after Dawson spanked him proves that Johnson isn't shot. Frankly, I don't think Tarver was shot either when Dawson spanked him twice. And the rematch with Tarver was contractual, not because the first fight was close. Plus he convincingly beat Adamek, who's since become a top 20 P4P fighter. He'd also have a win over Diaconu on his resume if Diaconu hadn't pulled out at the last minute. It's funny - when Chad started clearing out 175, people thought it was one of the best weight classes in the sport. Now that he's done it, people just say all the fighters were crappy to begin with.
I guess, but then he wouldn't have the wins over Tarver. Diaconu had his chance to fight Dawson and pulled out with two weeks left before the fight. He had an opportunity to fight for a different belt against a more well-regarded fighter for more money, and not needing to go to Romania for it. I can't think of too many fighters anywhere who would have chosen to face Diaconu in that situation.
Headbanger, there may be chauvinism at times from Americans when it comes to evaluating their fighters' resumes but in regards to talent, it's there to be seen by all. Dawson...like him or not, is a well rounded, very talented boxer. His resume up to now is one thing, but his talent is another. Let's not mix the 2 ! Dawson is supposed to beat Pascal based on what both bring into the ring.
Dawson screwed himself. He didn't need to choose between fighting Diaconu and fighting Tarver. Tarver had no other options, he would have still been there after Dawson beat Diaconu, for a unification fight. Instead, Dawson turned down a career payday, vacated his title and removed all of his own leverage. Tarver was then the only credible opponent and Dawson was forced to take less money and agree the ridiculous rematch clause. Effectively Dawson's choice was fighting Diaconu once and Tarver once, or Tarver twice. Dawson chose the latter for less money and one belt rather than two (and then vacated that belt as well rather than fight Cloud...)
you mean like when your blinkered favourite andre dirrell lost to froch in nottingham and delivered one of the most disgusting, cowardly performances ever witnessed in an british ring :rofl i here the nottingham arena still stinks of **** from dirrells running and esb stinks of **** from your foul, ignorant, ill informed opinions so beat it you fragile little ***gott :vonnecunt
fantastic post backed by irrefutable scientific fact :deal not only is dawson a fragile whiskered hype job, he also ducks real champions to fight fellow american hype jobs like tarver for less money. ignorant people in america had probably never heard of diaconu, just like the didn't know erdei, or jirov, instead they think its more credible for dawson to fight tarver because he looked good in rocky films :rofl
I couldn't agree more. Johnson and Tarver aren't easy fights for anyone as we all saw last week. Dawson is the class of the division and should be favored over anyone in the world 175 and down.
if dawson does beat pascal he deserves huge credit. the victories over adamek, tarver and johnson are good enough as it is, but in beating pascal he will add a prime champion to his resume.
Hated? Hated by who? Nobody really cares about Dawson. It's a big fight for him and days away, there is barely anyone talking about it. He's a decent fighter but he isn't hated and he isn't under appreciated. Anyway, I think it's risky for Pascal. I think he has the style to beat Dawson but I worry that he'll be rusty. It's unprecedented for a fighter to have such a bad injury and win a title fight in his first bout back. I hope he does though. Dawson is very dull.
