He was all heart, Danny. His bravery against Vitali, Potter, that Spain-based Kraut are the first three that come to mind.

Saw him fight Del Boy live and was gutted when glancing blows put him over. Then again, I must've had a short memory, The Fridge had him goin' with a jab!

Glad it's Danny today, he deserves appreciation :thumbsup

Yeah, i was there when he was starched by Chisora. The boo'ing from some of the fans was just disgusting IMO (it wasnt aimed at him totally, more down to his south london roots). It was a real shame to see after somehow coming out on top against Potter and his showing against Vitali.

I'd like to say he was past his best but as we've already covered, you never knew with Danny! He's always been hot and cold, but 100% Warrior!

Classic battle of distance vs pressure fighting. The fight that really told me Rios had it. Perfect gameplan by Acosta, just couldn’t keep him off.

Love this fight. Reminds me of Cotto-Margarito in a lot of ways. Rios showed incredible heart and chin in the early rounds cos he was just taking a beating and Acosta was landing huge shots and iirc had Rios wobbly in round 4(?). I haven't seen that much of Acosta and I was slightly surprised at how quickly he seemed to fold...should I have been?

Acosta is a very very good puncher in his own right. He hurt him at the end of the 2nd and in the 3rd. For me, he just seemed to gas.

He won the first 4 comfortably, making Rios look like he had no answer. Early on he was clueless, following in straight lines etc. For me, the fight showed some of Rios' flaws.

    Great battle tho

Well I don’t remember it in RBR detail, but I do like your writing. I think you’re a touch harsh on Rios rather than giving the credit to Acosta though. As for your conclusion, I think it showed he’s perhaps able to find a way to win against a top fighter who doesn’t just come forward. A back foot fighter should be his kryptonite but he got the W. Not sure Mitchell lasts as long as 7, especially as it would likely be in the UK if it happened.

It showed his flaws, but everyone has those.

Tell you what though, hope Marquez hasn’t put on too much bulk, Marquez-Rios would be a very interesting fight. 140 would do.

I was deliberately harsh on Rios Scott, and I'm not giving Acosta credit at all (even tho he deserves a HUGE amount IMO). But as of now, posters think he is a completely unbeatable, unhurrable machine. While I like him a lot (one of my fav fighters, as is Acosta for that matter), I think he gets a tad overrated.

A Marquez clash would be a great watch, probably similar to the fight JMM-Diaz fight (who wouldn't want to watch that again).

Dunno, I've never seen anyone going overboard (P4P lists etc) but he does deserve a lot of credit. He's deservedly probably favourite against everyone at Lightweight.

Just the fight I was thinking of. Interesting now to remember just how highly thought of Diaz was at one point. Never really lived up to it IMO.

That's a fair comment I suppose that's a fair comment. I've seen him in the odd p4p list which is way off the mark. But he does deserve the credit he is getting. Wins over Peterson, Acosta and Antillion (I'm sure you've seen that fight, but if you haven't, GO WATCH  )

The Marquez fight is the one I want to see, but I think he counters him and knocks him out around the 8th similar to the Katsidis fight.

I would say Rios has a much better chin than Kats so if Marquez could get to him it would not be that early imo. And if Kats and Diaz can give JMM fits with their pressure, I can only see the much bigger, stronger, harder hitting and perhaps fitter Rios wearing Marquez tbh. That would be my prediction anyway.

Rios continues to fight the way he does and he'll be shot by the time he hits 30
