Well I personally think I fought like ****. I did good in the first round, I caught him with my left constantly, but as soon as he got me on the ropes I didn't do a good job at moving out the way. The guy weighs 60 pounds more than me and had 6 fights. Even though I have no fights and no experience, I still don't want to use that as an excuse. My coach says that was real good and he's "60 pounds more than you, you did real good." But idk, I feel disappointed in myself
man i think we can all identify with that feeling! the first spar at least gives you something to work on. The guys had a ton of experience compared to you and you still managed to land some shots:good Just remember that sparring isnt like sitting a final test exam. Sparring is the beginning of learning. You found out that you have plenty more to learn that's all. We all learn that, particularly after the first spar. sparring will raise more questions than you even thought possible! But all those questions do have answers to them. It wont be long before the guy you just sparred will be trying to figure out a way to keep you trapped on those ropes like he used to when you first started. :huh
by the way....you must have the heart for the job by the response you got from your trainer:hat that's the biggest thing i pay much attention to when my boys are sparring for the first few times.:thumbsup
Haha I see where you're coming from. Idk, but after that match I felt like just throwing the gloves and walking out. It was surprising seeing everyone coming up to me slappin my back and acting like I just whooped some serious ass. I just don't like when people create an excuse, especially for me. I don't see weight as a big factor in a fact no matter how much it is
yeah i see no excuses for that either:smoke...not even that the guy had 6 fights and probably only sparred about 2-300 rounds since he started training:admin, and the weight was only weight after all. No excuses even if it was your 1st sparring ever, you should have knocked the bum around a bit more like they do on TV. Regardless of how you felt you did, your club mates must have seen something worth patting you on the back for. Did they say what they liked about your spar? if not ask them because other peoples opinions can be important.
I'm not quite sure, I wasn't actually suppose to spar because I don't have a passbook. But yeah, they just said "That was real good for your first time sparring, and only a month, he's way bigger than you and you held your own. You did real good." But I still don't like the whole "Held your own." I like to hear, "whooped that ass."
Don't take too much stock in your first sparring session. Also I'm pretty sure it's legal in all states except Alabama to spar without a passbook
:rofl:rofl Thats the spirit buddy!! :rofl:rofl I must say i love that kind of attitude in a fighter.I can see it niggling away at you till you find a way to drop him like a bad habit! Its the personal challenges we set for ourselves that drive us onward and upward. :good
, I think I just need to learn how to adjust with gloves. It felt odd trying to throw with this huge pad on my fist lol
