in 2007, DLH was considered by some to be Floyd's greatest challenge at his higher weight classes. Others consider Cotto to be his overall most formidable challenge in his higher weight classes. If they were to fight each other at 154lbs, who do you think would win?

DLH in less ten 10, stronger, faster, better chin, better jab, better left hook, better defense, should I keep on going? :yep

De La Hoya reached his peak against Tito / Shane , he never looked as good after that , yes he had something in the tank in 2007 but not a patch on what he had , his power and timing had significantly dwindled , he was bigger and stronger physically but he was now officially over the hill IMO

Still with that said , i think he would of had enough to beat Cotto @JrMW , if were talking strictly the Oscar that fought Floyd then i think he runs out a winner by UD , utilising his size (165 on the night if memory serves) and strength , i think he would of just been too big for Cotto

As soon as Cotto runs into a bigger JrMW with some skills and experience he will be bullied into defeat

Cotto would've knocked DLH out with a body punch just like Hopkins did. De la Hoya was a great fighter in his welterweight and lightweight days, but other than the Vargas fight, what did he do at 154 and above?

Oscar's best punch was a 45 degree uppercutt!! a punch that Cotto would be punished with.
Oscar a better overall fighter w/A greater chin & ability.

IMO, Even the part time fighter that was a 2007 Oscar is more than enough to defeat Miguel.

say cotto pulls off this victory, would that mean the oscar of 07 beats the floyd of the present?

I think Cotto would be too sharp for him at that stage.

Alls i remember is Oscar being in range for so much of that fight and just didn't throw his punches.

A clear sign of being done at the top level. Mosley has it now. Its an inability to get your punches off or as some call it "Pull the trigger"
Its also from that fight that Roach realised Hoya couldnt pull the trigger anymore and would put Manny against him.

I have no doubt Cotto beats him IMO

Oscar of 07 vs floyd now would be a more competetive fight i believe personaly yes.

With the same juges that awarded Hoya a SD against a quicker floyd. You'd think he might be able to pull it off.
