Society as a whole has become bigger over time. From 1960-2003 the average American's average height and weight grew over 1 inch and 25 lbs. So let's say George Foreman was born the same year as Wladimir Klitschko, he would be 1 inch taller and 25 lbs heavier. So when you compare Wladimir and George's size to the average American male, they are both equally bigger than the average male from their generation. You just have to adjust for the time period, the steroids in milk, the steroids in cow meat, pig meat, etc. You can't penalize a fighter because they fought during a generation that was smaller across the board because if that same fighter were born in this generation, they would be bigger. On the flip side if Wladimir was born in George's era he would have been 1 inch shorter and 25lbs lighter. See how it works? It's pretty simple actually. This isn't fight night round 4, we are talking about reality here which means you include all factors including the inflation of the human male's size. People really don't understand how to compare athletes cross-era. Oh and if you want to know how I obtained this information: Average adult Americans are about one inch taller, but nearly a whopping 25 pounds heavier than they were in 1960, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The report, Mean Body Weight, Height, and Body Mass Index (BMI) 1960-2002: United States, shows that the average height of a man increased from just over 5'8" in 1960 to 5'9½" in 2002. Meanwhile, the average weight for men rose dramatically from 166.3 pounds in 1960 to 191 pounds in 2002.
well thats bull****. Tyson would have been around the half billion mark had he have had the slightest bit of financial acumen. fact is tyson could 'make more money masturbating in Madison Square Garden', that the Klitschko's could boxing lmao :rofl
Bro while I agree to your undertone, the fact that American boxing fans don't generally respect what the Klitschko's have done shouldn't be used as an argument chip. It's embarrassing actually the way some fellow American's don't understand how good they really are. Now this knocking out Ali nonsense, well that creates a backlash on this particular message board against the Klitschko's. I personally think they are great, and should really fight each other to prove who's the best heavyweight in the world which has never been proven during their duo run.
Lamon brewster 220 lbs knocked the **** out of Wladmir Klitschko. Corrie Sanders 225lbs knocked the **** out of wladmir klitschko It shudders the mind to think what happens if Wlad met a 220lb powerhouse George Foreman. ****ing imbecile
dude the Klitschko's are the best of the current dire heavyweights out there, no doubt about that, but, to even mention them in the same breathe as an Ali or even a Frazier for that matter, is diabolical. truth is we will never really know as is the case with every hypothetical matchup, but if we are to go by the careers of the K's so far, and the heavyweight greats of the past, the K's dont even belong in the top 10, ESPECIALLY wladmir klitschko.
Yeah the first thing that comes to mind is how would they even be able to handle Earnie Shavers, let alone Ali and Frazier?
Earnie Shavers would have eaten Wladmir Klitschko alive. Larry Holmes would have embarassed the **** out of him
people keep on talking about Wladmir/Vitali Klitschko beating up on Ali ...when lets face it....wlad (who is strangely rated higher out of the two brothers, despite having been KTFO by purity, brewster and sanders), beating the likes of 'quality' opposition in calvin brock, lamon brewster, ray austin, sultan ibragimov, tony thompson, ruslan chagaev, fat ( oops i mean fast) eddie chambers, and the nigerian nightmare samuel peter (please note the satire in the use of the word 'quality' lmao) i mean i can TOTALLY understand why people would talk about wlad kicking Ali's ass, i mean what did Ali ever do...? its not like he almost retired having defeated every man he had ever faced (had he have done so before taking on holmes and berbick, fights that should never have happened), in an era where you only had mere names such as sonny liston, joe frazier, george foreman etc etc..... its not like he actually came out of this era having NEVER been stopped (again bar holmes and berbick as an old man).....i mean wtf did ali ever do!! back to the point of this thread ....as far as vitali is concerned.... he couldnt even deal with a fat out of shape, on the way out lennox lewis.... Ali breaks down and destroys both Klitschko's EVERY damn time. also...another interesting point i have to make upon lennox lewis' retirement from boxing, vitali was considered the 'linear, legitimate, universally recognised, undisputed heavyweight champion'.... a sentiment that was held quite strongly, as wladmir had been ****ed up by sanders and brewsters, all within a relatively close time period.... but since this, despite the fact that vitali has remained unbeaten, and has beaten largely similar opposition to Wladmir, suddenly Wladmir is being talked about as being one of the ATG's.... something that really pisses me off, largely due to the fact that based on the above, neither klitschko should be in that category (although im more horrified that people put Wlad in that band of greats ahead of vitali))
Yeah from an ability standpoint I would rather compare Wladimir and Vitali to Earnie Shavers. Great fighters, with solid right hands. I think leap frogging over guys like Evander and Riddick Bowe with these 2 greats is a bit of a stretch.
personally, I have Vitali ranked higher than wlad, but neither are within my top 15 ATG at heavyweight.
Well its your opinion/perspective/taste, in that you enjoy watching them. I dont really enjoy watching them. and moreover, cringe when ever people use the word 'greatness' in association with a klitschko. they are the best at the moment. but so were alot of other fighters during dire heavyweight periods atsch
