If the Douglas, who turned in a tremendous performance in Tokyo, fought Holyfield in 1990 how competitive would the fight have been? I still think Evander would have won by knockout, just too determined.

    Probably Holyfield by late stoppage.

Yeah I'll take Holyfield to break Douglas late in the fight but not before felling some of big Busters thunder.

I think Holyfield would have some problems with Douglas's excellent jab, and own considerable talent, but eventually takes over and stops him in the mid to late rounds.

Holyfield.Evander Real Deal was a couragous and great heavyweight champion.Evander sparked Douglas early enough not long after the Tyson fight so the question is irrelevant tbh.The less said about Douglas the better imo.

Tyson douglas was only allowed to do what he did because tyson was so badly prepared for it mentally and physically imo.

Holyfield would have beat him. Would have went longer than their actual fight because by all accounts douglas came into it in terrible shape.

My opinion has always been tho a lot of heavyweights would have beat tyson that nite.

In a nutshell tyson made douglas look better than he was.

Its all subjective in the end tho. People see different things. Maybe i m doing a disservice to douglas who does deserves massive credit for the win regardless. Just how i always seen it.

    Seriously though, Douglas deserves credit.
But seeing as Tyson's style of fighting was nothing like Holyfield's, and Holyfield pretty much countered Douglas to pieces in their actual fight, I don't see any reason to give Douglas much credit in head-to-head against Holyfield whether he comes to fight in shape or not.

He did indeed mate. Such an odd fight. Seems like a completely different fighter to the one that fought holyfield.

I can see people saying douglas had tyson frustrated in there. And that version of douglas would have always beaten him.

But not for me personally. I think at that point the wheels were coming off the tyson train. They had been for a while. Was going through the motions at that point. Looking back tyson never really ever got back to where he was after he fired his trainers. The writing was on the wall from the bruno fight for me looking back.
