You do have a point, however every jurisdiction has their own rules much like the different laws of each state.

Wasting time to retrieve his mouthpiece has to be taken into consideration. Tyson should have tried to rise instead of wasting precious time, the referee could have picked up the mouthpiece, washed it off, then handed it to him.

Ahh, but that’s the thing isn’t it? He was so out of it that he didn’t think to rise and beat the count. He was wandering around on the canvas looking for his mouthpiece in la-la land.

Contrast that to Buster pounding his fist on the canvas over his carelessness and shaking his head, locking into the count and rising to beat it.

Mike got knocked out in 10 rounds. That's all that happened.

Mike himself doesn't do much disputing of this after all these years, so....

Plain and simple, no fuss, no muss. Accepting defeat is the first step in the battle against denial. Too much controversy these days, the Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20 1969, President Kennedy's assassination on Nov 22 1963. We should accept the outcomes of already happened occurrences and move on. History changes for no one, not even for me, even if I was in the War Of 1812, Lol.

And when the mouth piece is knocked out the ref can call time and have it washed off etc…. And the corner can put it back in the fighters mouth. Of coarse with Tyson’s corner that nite they would have tried to shove it Don Kings rear end!!!!

Tyson got beat and Douglas did not have a long count! It’s that simple

Who are we going to blame Mike Tyson's loss on ? The Bossa Nova, that was a good oldie in 1963.
