Before the fight Smoking Joe Frazier comes into the ring and is introduced over the PA system to thunderous applause. He jokes with Douglass and says: "Now you been ducking me long enough okay?"

Balboa faintly hears it and thinks Frazier is talking about him. He points his finger in the champ's chest and says: "You knocked Ali down. Why don't you try knocking me down?"

Frazier lands a short left-hook that knocks Balboa out cold and forces the paramedics to perform emergency CPR to save the Stallion's life.

The fight is rescheduled for a month later but Rocky gets caught with PEDS in his dressing room. The fight goes on and Douglass lands a light jab which snaps Balboa's head back violently. Micky and Paulie rush into the ring and all three are hit flush and suffer knockouts.
