You're the crack head. Fighters get knocked down in sparring including Mike Tyson. Tyson could have had King Kong in his corner, he was still getting KTFO.
I think that if the Tyson from the Tokyo fight was fighting Spinks it would of been the same conclusion - Actually I think the Tyson that fought Danny williams would still KO 1 That version of Spinks - -- - Which leads me to believe that the outcome against Douglas would be pretty much the same - With the possibility of it going to points - - - WHICH sadly due to the politics in boxing Tyson would of most likely won - - - - Its hard to fathom how Tyson was ahead on one judges scorecards and even on another - - - Funnily enough it could of been a draw of the preoportions of Holyfield/Lewis 1
I honestly don't know. Was it a stylistic weakness it was it a culmination of mitigating circumstances. I do strongly believe that had the two met in a rematch Tyson would have destroyed him based on the shape they both came in next time round. But would Tyson ever beat the Douglas of that night, the man who fought like a prime Holmes and a prime Lewis? I have to seriously doubt it.
I think the way Douglas dominated a fresh Tyson early on points to there being a stylistic weakness rather than Tyson having an off night. The bout was a one sided beating barring Douglas getting complacent and walking into a shot. He was completely dominated from the get go, Douglas boxed his head off.
The only question mark really is would Tyson have more success fighting behind his jab, weaving in which is something he totally neglected. There's no way he walks through Douglas though, if that was the case he'd have done it that night in Tokyo with just raw aggression.
Makes me chuckle how folk on here think a Rooney trained Tyson walks through Douglas, it ain't happening.
tyson wouldnt let dougla get brave and would get on the inside quick it mite even be over in the 1st rd
Douglas had his number and wasn't in awe of him. Treated him like a boy. I'd favour Douglas every time.
First off, I don't think Spinks beats Buster and drops a decision. I thought the Spinks camp was very smart not fighting Tony Tucker. Carl williams was a real tough matchup. So the Spinks being referenced as a measuring stick isn't much because I thought anyway, made to order for a young Tyson. And not the second best guy around. Some people did not buy that and thought Mike could outbox him. Not me. I thought he no longer had the legs to deal with that kind of early aggression. And Spinks never had fought a predator like this and he was taking on a heavyweight predator, not some lh guy. Kind of like Brewster ambushing an old Golata. I thought made to order for Lamon. Lots of folks didn't. But based off that one spectacular result, how much does anyone really use that kind of result as much of a barometer? So does that version of Brewster translate to an A+ grade heavy? I do not think so and take a much closer look at the opposition--and their form--on the night of that big stage.
