Tokyo Douglas. And he should have changed his name to Tokyo Douglas. He might have had a more successful subsequent career.
Dubois is the harder Puncher, and Douglas couldn’t afford to switch off because Dubois can catch him over the jab if he gets lazy, he can reach him more than Tyson. Douglas would have to go up and down with the jab a bit more, rather than just a jab with the pawing lead hand to control, you can’t just do that against a taller fighter unless they have no jab and just put the earmuffs on, Douglas would have to bait more here which is what you have to do against taller fighters since you can’t just rely on staying behind the lead the whole time. Not saying Douglas can’t out jab him for the most part, but Dubois does have a great offensive jab and can time you, and he has actually dropped guys with the jab, so it’s not like I’m thinking Dubois would out jab Douglas, it’s that he can do serious damage with it, so I feel Douglas has to counter the jab of Dubois himself. Also I know Douglas also dropped someone with a jab, but I’d wager that Dubois has a harder jab since he steps into it, but that’s where Douglas can time Dubois over that jab. Douglas on points probably, but it’s a dangerous fight.
People need to realize Tokyo Douglas wasn't for 1 fight it was over a span of 3 years between 1987-1990 his form during this time was good he went 11-1. His performance vs Mike Williams flooring his opponent 3 times with a jab is on par with his form vs Tyson.
