The idea is Frazier was much more the ATG in terms of intrinsic qualities.

    Is that your idea, intrinsic?

Tyson is the better and more accomplished ATG.

I see no evidence that Joe's chin was any worse than Mike's. Tyson never had to face a punching monster like George Foreman.

I see Joe gradually breaking Douglas down to force a late rounds stoppage. Frazier's inside work was much better than Tyson's which would be the key to this bout.

If Douglas took on Joe with same mind set and determination as he did in Tokyo then he as a very good chance. The jab would win him it causing Joe eyes to swell. But a close fight with frazier s relentless attack. I see a narrow point win for Douglas. But if it's Douglas reverting to type I see a savage fight from Joe and stopping Douglas around the tenth

Lol you are delusional, tyson fought many +230 lbs punchers and ate their punches no problem, frazier got destroyed vs 217 foreman, the only big man puncher he faced

People forget Tyson had a similar frame to Frazier but Tyson cannot fight on the inside or apply pressure like him. As a result, Tyson bobbing, weaving, and charging forward led to nothing because douglass could simply tie him up or throw an uppercut.

Tysons short arms and height meant he couldnt fight on the outside and he didnt know how to fight backing up either. This also applies to Frazier but Frazier was a master of pressure fighting and inside fighting--something douglass was allergic to. Frazier knew how to slip the jab and the war would begin once he inevitably found his way inside.

Tyson never got off the floor to win, frazier did. Frazier was crazy enough to rematch both foreman and bonavena despite the bad matchup. He feared no one and did better against outside fighters with jabs and lateral movement (ellis, mathis, quarry, Ali, etc). He forced them all to fight his fight. If he can do that to Ali in 2/3 fights, he could certainly make douglass go to war in the trenches. Mathis was also bigger than douglass and had superior foot work and speed.

I see it playing out as douglass dominating the first 2 rounds with his jab and movement but frazier starts finding his rhythm and figures out the timing soon after. He starts to slowly add more pressure and by the 4th or 5th hes landed some nasty body shots while getting his face lumped up by jabs and 2-4 punch combinations in the process.

Frazier finally finds his way inside by the 6 but has to take a powerful uppercut to do so--possibly hitting the camvas once but shaking it off. Douglass has no answer and tries to tie joe up but continues getting pummeled to the body. In the 7th joe starts unleashing left hook hell and douglass has no choice but to duke it out.

By the 8th and 9th joe is in full control and douglass is getting tired from a battered body and lumps on the side of the head from hooks. His legs are gone and thetly trade punches. douglass is desperate to re establish his jab and range to get his combos off but joe is methodically breaking him down going high and low. He drops douglass twice in the 10th and the ref stops it. Joe has some blood on his lips and lumps on his face but douglass didnt offer anything hes never seen before.

This myth about foreman's power is getting ridiculous. How many bangers +220 were there in the 70s? That's way foreman stood out...
He also kinda looked amateurish looping his punches, compared to punching technique of the modern big boys.

Tyson ate some devastating punches against ruddock, and those were some picture perfect full leveraged uppercuts and didn't flinch, he sure as hell isn't gonna get smashed like a ping pong ball like frazier did vs foreman

Mathis was unranked.Holyfield would have beaten the snot out of him,and the question posed refers to the Douglas that stopped Tyson , not the slob who laid down to Evander.

The 70's had some of the best bangers ever.
    Foster
    Lyle
    Coetzee
    Knoetze
    Shavers
    Weaver
    etc.

Joe Frazier breaks down Douglas mid to late rounds for the stoppage. Douglas didn't handle relentless pressure well and often quit when things got rough, even while being ahead in fights. Frazier was a man who came to fight for 15 strait rounds non stop.

I guess Tyson fans want to believe Douglas was unbeatable that night to prove Mike Tyson lost to a special fighter. In reality this fight shows if Tyson hits you and you hit him back it will wear down his will. Frazier on the other hand couldn't have his spirit broken because he was a true warrior and not a cowardly ****** like Tyson was.

Frazier would stop Douglas with in 5 rounds no matter what Buster did.
