It's an idiotic line of logic. It's not like anyone even claimed Lewis beat a better version of Tyson.

While anything can happen in a boxing ring, I can't see any argument which would legitimately bolster picking Douglas over Lewis. Could an upset occur? Certainly. But if we're basing this on a reasonable degree of "probability" then Douglas should be a huge underdog.

One would think this should be obvious, but on this site, anything anti Lewis scenario is possible.

According to some, any ham and egger can beat Lewis because he has a glass jaw. But apparently Tyson, Vitali, Tua and Holyfield were never able to land anything to that jaw, otherwise it would have cracked wide open.

Even if people believe "Tokyo Douglas" was so much better than "ordinary Buster Douglas", he only showed what he could do against a 5'10 come-forward fighter such as Tyson.
There's little evidence that he'd have answer to Lewis's size or particular style.

And it should also be noted that Douglas doesn't have the kind of power in a single punch that McCall and Rahman used to score those upsets. his likely approach would be to box Lewis and I can't see that working for him too well.

He did manage to outbox the larger and fairly skilled Tony Tucker for most of their fight before fading and eventually quitting late.. Although Tucker is not a man on Lewis's level so yeah its kinda moot.

Now that you mention it so did Ruddock..oh wait..maybe that doesn't matter. Come to think of it, I don't think it worked out all that well for Bruno either. :huh

TBH, I've never really understood using Lewis's victories as way to justify him losing to someone else. I don't recall any other boxer who's victories are so easily turned against him.

There would be nothing stopping Lewis from blasting Douglas with an uppercut in a clinch, possibly with some slick hooking of the neck.

Lewis definitely would have had problems with the more mobile version of Tucker.

A prime Tucker would pose many problems for Lennox.

Both chinny girly people. Unless douglas is on his best night, leni will land his powerful right hand

Many prime fighters will expose the chinny girl. He benefited from fighting sub par fighters and his two most competitive competitors were shot by the time he got to them. A has been in mercer was robbed as was Vitali and then leni showed his class by running away like a coward from a justified rematch.

Well, Lennox did turn the tables and started beating Vitali's ass, but I did think a rematch against Vitali would've generated a ton of interest from the fans. Funny how Lennox sued Tyson for a rematch but retires when a "threat" to his championship actually surfaced.

Looking at the punishment Lewis took from Vitali, it's hard to envision Buster stopping him. Whoevers taking him by stoppage should take 10 minutes to contemplate what they're dong with their life.
