Who cares? Tyson knocked Douglas down at least. But the a fat 37 years old bum Sanders destroyed w.Klitschko without problem. Or a slow, mediocre skilled McCall destroyed Lewis easily.Lewis hadn't chance. Tyson had chance against Douglas at least. This ko was in 10 round a not in the second. This is a BIG difference.
We never know what's going to happen until the bell rings. Who'd have thought that Holyfield would be physically stronger than Tyson, bulling him around the ring? Who'd have thought that Foreman was that much stronger than Frazier? Who thought Michael Spinks would be slicker than Larry Holmes? We don't really know. This is the futility of comparing eras. Given the records of these two, you're not going to get too many guys going against Louis. But did Joe ever fight a guy 6' 4" who could move, jab, and had hyped himself into a single-minded fervor? Not that I recall. Of course we should bet on Joe, but we'll never really know. Buster Douglas would probably beat the **** out of many old-timers on sheer size alone....but one must be careful what one says. I don't want to be shipped off to Siberia for such beliefs.
Tyson was training on Geisha girls and Saki and he still almost pulled the fight out by almost having Douglass counted out before he was out of the fight completely and taken apart. Douglas was in the zone. he had lost his beloved mother and was dedicating the Tyson fight to her memory. It was touching to hear him say it afterwards and getting very emotional. He trained with vigor and gusto for the Tyson fight. Douglas had so much talent but didn't have that appetite for combat for most of his career. He was a nice, easygoing man who was pushed into boxing by his dad: the late Billy "Dynamite" Douglass. He was kind of a shy, timid sort who was bullied by his father. His mother was the sweet and nurturing one and I'm sure James was a momma's boy for this reason. I think the Douglas of Tokyo was a terrific fighter. He could have given Louis problems, even possibly defeated Joe of the late-40's to early 50's when he was past his prime. The Joe Louis of before those years would take his lumps but would eventually catch Douglass relaxing a splite second and that's when the Brown Bomber would get him. Louis by late kayo.
Sardu & Vince Voltage say overlapping things that seem pretty astute! I'll by their discerning arguments. I will add the caveat that sheer size must have a decent amount of boxing ability too. I am tired ofthe silly extremes-if you believe some, peak Douglas was about as good as Douglas Adams & Tyson would be lucky to defeat the average anorexic schoolgirl. These extremes & lack of respect for gighters become tiresome.
You're no gent, and certainly no scholar. Perhaps, just perhaps, if you could post something without having to continually bring Tyson into it, you may get a smidgen of respect. But I click on this thread (which has some potential) and here you are ruining it with your crap again. Here's a hint: the act has gotten old and stale. Nobody's laughing, except at you. Give it up. :good
Who rattled your cage? Go play along with your fellow Tyson nuthuggers will you! Read the thread, think you'll find I didn't bring your idol up.
Hahaha you've some need to talk, if Tyson's name is so much as mentioned old Azzer85 is straight on the scene. :rofl
Well maybe there should be a "fantasy" section added to the forum, then all the Tysonites can discuss all their excuses and bull**** together in peace.
funny thing about that is, you'll be the first guy there. You, Foremansjab, Heavyhqndss and your other cronies
get rid of wass1985 and his alts and its problem solved that includes foremansjab and heavyhandss too its a bit of a strange coincidence, but if you put all three of these on block, you begin to realise they all appear on the same thread, always together 'backing each other up'.......
Yeah I've noticed. It's a shame though because there's some really knowledgeable posters in the classic & to see it reduced to this by trolls, or in this instance troll (singular) is disappointing to say the least.
