Actually the best Holyfield was against Bowe in the second fight. I dont really count a guy being at his "physical" peak being his best. Fighters learn how to adapt better in the ring and settle down a bit. Holyfield relied too much on his natural talent, which was only going to get him so far as a heavyweight. Old Foreman could never, and did not, set a pace that Bowe set with Evander, its impossible for you to compare the two, regardless of how hard Foreman supposedly punched, Bowe was far better equipped to push Evander and showcase how good of fighter he really was.
I don't. bowe would come to the inside and old foreman wouldn't have an answer. bowe would be too big to push around. and I really think bowe's power and Hand speed to boot would really give George some issues. George couldn't dodge a punch for his life and that jab would be bruising George all night. Plus, If Holyfield stunned foreman that badly, then a much bigger bowe will be able to. Bowe tko 10 old foreman
I think Holyfield's absolute peak was around the Douglas and Foreman fights too. It's really hard to fault his performance against Douglas.
Foreman was slow as a land tortoise and Douglas was fat and not even mentally there. Its hard to say he was at his absolute peak off of those fights because the opponent didnt bring much out of Holyfield. I think a case can also be made for Holyfield fighting a smarter fight against Foreman and making it a bit easier on himself.
LMAO. Who did old Foreman beat in his comeback that makes you think he could beat anyone better than Alex Stewart or Bert Cooper? Foreman did punch hard, Im not denying that, but in his comeback he was slow and predictable and could easily be defeated by most decent fighters. There is no comparison to a young strong fighter like Riddick Bowe, who he would have never beaten.
I also believe Bowe would have stopped Foreman in 92 or 93. George wanted no part of Bowe and Lewis, he stated it many times on air.
Yet you seem to have no problem acknowleding Tyson's peak as the Biggs-Holmes-Tubbs-Spinks fights who offered little in the way of resistance. I think he fought a smart fight. Sure, he could have opted to stink the joint, not get hit at all. But that would have drawn even more criticism, and it would have been thoroughly ****.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl frank bruno did hurt lewis seriously, lewis didn´t have the chin to take the foreman´s bombs. please stops to talk nonsense.
SlugFesting with Old Foreman was a smart fight?? :nut Holyfeild was v.lucky to not get KO'd slugging with Big George! He could of moved And Countered lke he did VS Douglas IMO.
atsch How does Tyson come into this discussion? Yes all those fighters you mentioned certainly provided a better fight than Douglas with exception to Spinks? Douglas clearly wasnt in the same arena as Holyfield and thats no knock on Holyfield. Yes Holyfield was physically great that night, just as Tyson was against Spinks, but his talents as a complete heavyweight came out against Bowe in my opinion. Tyson's certainly came out against Biggs, and Tubbs, and Thomas too but he never had a Bowe to fight. He didnt make too many mistakes in those fights. Holyfield could have boxed smarter against George with the same outcome and he wasnt dominate through the entire course.. I agree with some of this, but again, I think Holyfield showed a complete fighter against Bowe. Did people criticize Tommy Morrison for boxing circles around Foreman? If anything that was telling that Holyfield could have made it easier on himself.
Now your talking silly. Foreman wouldnt have had a hard time landing a shot on Lewis, he would have picked him off at range. Morrison was stopped by Mike Bentt and Ray Mercer, yet he UD12 old Foreman. Whats your take there? Foreman had too many cheeseburgers before the fight? :hey
holyfield was faster than bowe and better boxer, holyfield fought foreman intelligently, he never exchanged blows with him, evander did hit and he was moving during all fight, bowe was more static than evander. bowe this fight would be different, bowe trusted in his size, he was always the strongest, but in this fight george would be bigger, stronger and harder puncher. prime bowe was 6´5 and 230 pounds, old foreman was 6´3 1/2 and 257 pounds ,iron chin ,lion heart and he did hit like a ****ing truck. surely bowe would have tried exchange with george and he would be in serious troubles. evander had much better chin than bowe. SO YOU ARE VERY WRONG
