Tokyo James Buster Douglas vs Frank Bruno 1986, 15 rounds. Can Frank stop Douglas with his power? Or would Buster defeat Bruno easier than he did Mike Tyson in Tokyo?

Buster stops Bruno mid rounds. A motivated in shape and prepared Douglas is going to beat Frank almost every step of the way (though i wouldnt be surprised if Bruno didnt score a knockdown somewhere in the fight).

Micky Duff never would have picked Douglas for Frank. He witnessed the fight he had with Ferguson and told Jim Jacobs to avoid Douglas as an opponent for Tyson.

    Finally!
Anyway, i think Douglas could have stayed on the bike, like he did with tyson, and used his speed, underrate talents and much better stamina to pull this out, They both have very good jabs, but if Frank caught him, buster had the chin to withstand his power long enough for buster to recover and start moving again.

Another vote for Godzilla Douglas, of course.

Douglas late TKO on their best nights but Bruno is much more consistent.

Douglas wouldn't be Tokyo Douglas if he was facing Bruno. He needed Tyson to inspire him.

Douglas shows up fat, out of shape, ready to quit when things get hard....

That said, he still wins by late TKO.

I'd be very cautious of any "info" coming from Choklab.

I actually think this is a good matchup for Bruno. Bruno by KO. Bruno was not a totally out of shape fighter in 1986, and don't forget that unlike Tyson, he had height and reach to go with his heavy power, so he could hit Douglas from afar, and Douglas would not find it as easy to get to him as he did to a very short for a heavyweight Tyson.

I think Douglas is difficult to assess. The period where he was winning fights on Tysons undercard Buster was very reliable. I think Don King was trying to get him beat but he just kept winning. Berbick, Mike Williams and Oliver McCall. These were live opponents. Aside from Bonecrusher, Bruno didn’t meet live opponents who wanted to win unless a title was involved. Maybe he could have beat a live opponent who wanted to win in a non title fight, but it never happened. He was always the house fighter.

Tokyo Douglas would outclass Bruno by a heap, maybe get shaken or floored, but stops him in 7 or 8. 80s Douglas vs. 80s Bruno would be more interesting to entertain imo and would have no favorites.
