Dirrell didn't bring home the gold in 2004 and he didn't do it in 2009. Andre Ward has the medal and now the belt to show who the superior fighter is. For those new to the show - welcome to the Andre Ward era.

We'll see about that. Of course, right now Ward deserves to be the favorite going into that fight, but Dirrell has advantages that he might be able to exploit to win.

I'm not sure who WOULD win, but I'll say this - this about the best fight that can be made in this tournament right now. The most competitive and evenly matched, imo.

I hate to say it though, I think Abraham knocks both of 'em out. Something tells me his power will prove the deciding factor in this tourney.

    Don't get me wrong.

    Dirrell IS the better athlete.

But Dirrell isn't a fighter, and Ward IS.

Both Ward and Dirrell have the ability to beat Abraham, especially Dirrell who is not only faster than Ward, but probably a better puncher.

The thing is, Dirrell has no heart. He will get in with Abraham and his nerves will get the best him as he will resort to running, holding, and just looking for a way out, getting by on his athleticism.

It will likely cost him and Abraham would knock him out.

With Ward it's different. Ward is not on the same level as Dirrell athletically, but he's still a great athlete, and he has the STYLE, the ABILITY, and most importantly the HEART to beat Abraham by what could be a wide decision.

And for the record, I'm not even sure Ward vs Dirrell would even be that competitive. It would basically be Dirrell runnin like a scared girl, but Ward with the ring intelligence and speed to catch him.

Agreed. Dirrell has a bit more natural talent but Ward is the better fighter. Dirrell relies too much on his natural talent while Ward not only has good natural talent but the polish and skill in his game to make him a more complete fighter.

im happy somebody has sense here, dirrel is terrible and ward is the real deal, there are leaps and bounds seperating these 2 guys, dirrel is an athlete not a boxer, ward is the total package, ive said ward would wipe the canvas with dirrel on this site several times, any one whom doubts this after there 2 respective performances is a moron. Even as ordinary as kessler looked against ward i still think those were the 2 best guys in the torunament, that just shows how good ward really is, i would make abrraham a wild card due to his defense and power

i agree dirrel is an excellent athlete but an average boxer on a professional level, however i think dirrells power is really overrated, most of his early opponents were carefully picked small supermiddles, and i think ward could easily out box and move abraham to a wide ud, i could say dirrell getting caught and stopped late

Outstanding performance by Ward, a star in the making. He completely dominated the favourite to win the tournament.

Ward reminded of Aaron Pryor a little bit. VERY impressive. the switching stances has got to be a nightmare to deal with, especially when the guy has speed and power. And he has a good head on his shoulders, mature and has class. Likeable. Ward is gonna make it big.
