Here's the thing though. If you have two highly popular fighters in the ring, then yes, it'll produce a lot more buys. And a lot of those buys will be because of the other fighter as well.

Look at how Canelo fared as the only draw of the fight versus Smith. Explain to me why that isn't a bit more indicative of this actual drawing power.

Yory Boy Campas fought ODLH to the tune of some....350K buys. Would you say Yory Boy can sell a fight on his own to the tune of 350K buys? No.

Where did that come from? I've just read that 153k was the number for the Lemieux fight, and they expect more from DJ ppv.

 

It's posters like him who unintentionally make people hate 3G. And then a lot of those same guys then use posters like TWBB as so-called spokesmen, or representatives, of all 3G fans. It's calculated on both sides though, from the huggers to the haters.

 

Let's clear some things up.

1) Mexican Holidays Produce Considerably More PPV's
Myth. You actually busted this one yourself. In your words, Canelo has a "massive built in fanbase" AND had a PPV on a major Mexican holiday, only did around 250k. If his "massive built in fanbase" and Mexican holiday were combined using YOUR logic, he would've sold more.

2) Nationality of the Fighters
"But Golovkin is Kazakh!" (Or Asian when it's convenient). Jacobs is American, Ward is American, both had poor PPV's. Pacquiao did tremendous numbers and it wasn't all Filipinos. Squash that garbage. Unless you're telling me you need to be Mexican or Filipino to sell PPV's in the US lol

3) Nobody Cares About Gonzalez
Nobody cares about Liam Smith, Daniel Jacobs, Gonzalez's opponent whose name I ****ing forgot. Again, myth busted.

4) The Lemieux fight did poorly because he's Canadian!!
Myth. He fought an American this time and guess what... HE DID THE SAME ****ING NUMBERS lol

This fight did the same as the Lemieux fight, poor numbers. The only consistency between the Jacobs and Lemieux fights is Golovkin and Gonzalez. Conclusion? About 150k is Golovkin and Gonzalez COMBINED base PPV.

 

This. I thoroughly enjoy Golovkin but this guy says some of the most ******ed **** and makes some of the dumbest excuses. He's just a cheerleader, not a fan.
