Love to see it but I wouldn't hold my breath. Golden Boy is gonna want a unifiction between Canelo and Lemieux should Canelo beats Cotto. He'll keep both away from GGG as long as he possibly can.

 

Canelo cant fight Cotto for the WBC belt without K2 blessing, WBC re-iterated that recently.

Having DL fight GGG is however, the perfect horse to trade in exchange for that blessing.

I would be a fun matchup but Lemiuex is too easy to hit and doesn't have the best chin.

I think Lemiuex beats Lee, BJS, Eubank, Quillin, and Cotto though.

That's a very plausible scenario, and the best case one for Golovkin.

The worst case scenario for GGG is for Canelo-Cotto to be made with the WBC's blessing, but without an immediate Lemieux fight being negotiated for, and a Cotto win over Canelo.

That would likely lead to Cotto leaving the title behind to chase a Mayweather rematch or to grant a rematch to Canelo. In that scenario, Lemieux has too much value being kept in-house, and it takes that much longer for GGG to unify or land a big name.

 

Surely GBP would not dare not feed leimex to GGG and HBO...
