it doesnt matter if ggg gets that belt....if they strip canelo and hand it to ggg? what good does that do ggg? none....hell be defending it against jorge sebastian heiland by the end of the year.....and nobody will give a damn

ggg must be afraid to fight canelo at 155..there is no other logical explanation.....he cant be worried about the validity of his title...its already been defended 3x in a row under 160 so its a lost cause now anyway.....even more if its handed to him what does that prove? nothing

he needs to fight canelo...its a no brainer....title and big money ppv fight all wrapped in one...its a no brainer he should be jumping at especially when he said he can make 154.....i mean....there is no other explanation

Everyone will give a damn, he'll have 3/4 belts and that means all roads will lead to him and he can just defend his belts against top middleweights, remain a champion and that alone earns him respect.

Look at Wlad, did no one give a damn about his belts? Sure the opposition most of the time wasn't some great ATGs but he's put up a respected run.

Either way, if Canelo's not going to fight him then what's he going to do? May as well get the belt, doesn't hurt.

when yer talking 154-168 there are different options for the fighters....case in point...canelo/khan.....if canelo were able to actually keep that wbc belt hed have no problem finding opponents even if we take jacobs and bjs out of the equation....hed still make big fights.....in the hw division wlad was the only money game in town......

people arent going to give a damn if ggg is defending his wbc belt against heiland, taureano johnson or even bjs ...i mean....bjs is one of the better fights ggg can hope to make at 160....and in the end he wont get much respect for it....about as much as he already does......and in reality....how much more respect can ggg get than he already does? most people already consider the best 160lb fighter bar none(i do...and i think ur prob a quack if you dont)....so where is he gonna go from there? but just keep proving it over and over against b level opposition to the point of redundancy?

he wants to beat hopkins record? ok fine...go ahead....just remember that when he does he still wont be elevated to the heights of respect and ATG levels that bernard is....because its what bernard did after mw reign that made him an atg......moving up to 168 and 175 and taking on the toughest fighters there....something ggg has no desire to do.....so go right ahead and beat hopkins record and still be recognized as a lesser fighter....because thats what will happen

It's going to make him run out of opponents and then this cash cow ringing the register might not be so automatic. He is alienating his core base and pretty soon the only people buying the fight I guess will be all the A side B side statisticians such as yourself

 

True.:good With GGG having all mw belts, his bargain power will increase and a possible fight with Canelo would probably be @ a more resonable weight than 155 lbs. I can understand catch weight fights but without a title on the table.

 

After Khan we should expect Canelo fighting Bradley/Pacquiao winner or Berto/Ortiz winner and so on. Anyway GBP and Canelo would lose their credibility if they keep fighting bloated up welters and dump that WBC mw title to avoid GGG.

I won't be surprised if Canelo will fight Broner in the near future.:yep

 

ive said many times....its not cool...but i accept that canelo is doing this and us complaining about it wont change it....bs or not if thats the path they wanna go down they will...he has enough support to do it....

run out of opponents? he just dragged amir khan up to 155....there are plenty of guys at 147 he could bring up there to fight...plenty of names.....you even recently saw bob arum mention "pac/canelo" as a possibility......dont be tryna tell me canelo will be running out of possible opponents....hes the "it" fight all guys want to get right now.....

not to mention as time progresses the possibility exists someone from 154 might emerge...like andrade or whoever....and even a 160lb guy like jacobs or bjs would drain themselves for the payday and big fight opportunity....canelo has a bevy of possibilities from 147-160

having all the belts wont mean jack **** for ggg....hell still be in the same situation....no big wins on his resume and still be high risk with a moderate reward....

I personally think it will be pretty humiliating for Canelo to just hand the belt to GGG instead of fighting him at the MW limit.Not for money reasons or promoter issues, but because your mando doesn't want to give you a handicap. I think it will look real bad on him... especially giving the prestigious "Mexican belt"

 

Ok then, 155 lbs fight between Canelo and Golovkin but no title on the line. I think this is fair enough.:yep
