Id take Quarry by UD here, though Sharkey could outwork him. I regard Sharkey as better than Chuvalo, at least

You could give Sharkey 6 years. Counterpunching Quarry eats him alive.

Quarry would have to watch for the right hand of Sharkey ,but I believe he does enough to get himself the decision here .

Maybe it's me but I find Quarry over rated. He did well vs big slow guys and caught a green Shavers early .. Jerry was brave as hell but it would not shock me to see him drawn into a brawl and Sharkey beat him up.

Quarry looks like the loser at the end while winning a decision. Maybe a stoppage. Huge disparity in class and ability. Rough fight.

Shavers would have been put out anytime during his career running into a Quarry right hand and Jerry would have always been able to land it on him. Jerry could brawl and win, if you watch his first bout with Frazier it was just a matter of Joe being made of iron and Jerry oak, this wouldn't be the case against Sharkey and Jerry's superior skills would batter Tom for the win.

It wouldn't shock me to see him drawn into a brawl as he was with Frazier,it would however shock me to see Sharkey beat him up!
Sharkey was crude, brave as a lion, but easy to hit,he was also typically185lbs ,and 5'8",so not a replica of Frazier.Stationary Fitz beat him decisively twice ,only to be robbed in their first encounter.
Quarry had fast hands, a good chin, excellent countering ability, decent boxing skills, and he could crack.
    Where are Sharkey's comparable wins to stand alongside Quarry's of;

    Foster,Lyle,Shavers,Mathis,Patterson,Spencer?

Shavers green? He was 45-2-0 28years old and had just ko'd Jimmy Ellis!

    ps. Quarry broke Shavers jaw.

I think Quarry was clearly not the best conditioned guy, he faded, he fought hot headed which was not always his best move as he could box quite well. I don't think he was the smartest fighter either. At his best he barely edged a faded Patterson, lost to Ellis, got destroyed by Frazier, got diced to shreds by Ali, got upset by Chuvalo. I"m not knocking Quarry .. I think he was a super tough, gutsy guy that had good moments but I'm not of the camp that feels he was the beat to never win a title, not even close. I think Shavers fought a stupid fight against him and got caught. As far as Sharkey goes, I feel he would be a very tough match up .. he was a bull, very strong, likely stronger than Quarry, he was better conditioned, he took a terrific punch, he may have been faster, he was a big banger himself and I see it as the sort of fight where Quarry fights dumb , brawls and could get tired out .. Some modern era guys may out era some of the old guys but I don't see Quarry as that sort of fighter.

Sharkey was stopped 5 times 3 of them were legitimate kos though only 2 were counted.
    Quarry was never ko'd.
Patterson lost to Quarry in 67, he then fought Ellis and was considered to have been robbed. He later beat Bonavena by clear decision and was a ranked heavyweight as late as 72.The only guy to beat him after the debateable loss to Ellis was Ali in his last fight, so minimising Quarry's win doesn't really work here.

I'm not here to go round and round with mirrors splitting hairs. I stated my position and stand by it.

You and I are close to getting into a stand off situation here ,which is not my wish or intention.
You seem very sensitive to any contrary posts, and appear to be on the verge of taking them personally.
I''ll pre-empt that.I enjoy your posts ,even the few I disagree with.
    Put me on ignore.

After reading some of these excellent analysis ,I've changed my mind. I say Quarry wins by UD in an ugly fight.
