    :yikes

So, there was a report in a Mexican newspaper during the week that this was the case. It seemed bizarre, as it wasn't a suspicious looking finish to the fight. Rojas was winning and fighting well, but it seemed as though Arce merely landed a damn hard body shot that sapped everything out of Gusano.

When it was first reported, Rojas said:

As reported on Wednesday, former champion Tomas Rojas denied recent allegations that he took a dive against Jorge Arce in their bout which took place in September 2007 in Las Vegas. Mexican newspaper Notiver published an interview where a writer printed quotes from Rojas, claiming the boxer told him that he took a dive in exchange for 100 thousand pesos and television exposure.

Rojas is alleged to have told the reporter that he accepted the money and could have easily beaten Arce that night. Arce stopped Rojas in six rounds after a shot to the body.

However, Rojas initially denied making those comments to reporter Pedro Munoz Zamudio, who the boxer claimed fabricated the information.

"The reporter started asking me about the fight between Marquez and Pacquiao. Then he asked me about my fight with Arce and told me it was fixed. I said no. I do not know why he wrote that. What that guy [wrote] is a vile lie," Rojas told Sal Rodriguez.

But, in a shocking twist, Rojas told XEU Deportes that he did make those comments to the reporter, but told him the quotes were "off the record" and "not to publish" any information related to the Arce fight.

"I was being honest. Yes I did tell him that but I asked him not to publish the comments. A reporter must have ethics.

After the latest chapter of this controversy, the president of the federal district boxing commission (CBDF), Rafael Herrera, announced that his office is going to conduct an investigation into the matter. He said there will be consequences for any guilty parties involved.

There are those who doubt Rojas' story because ringside observers said Arce's shot to the body was hard and picture perfect. Herrera's office will be reviewing video of the fight and speaking to those involved with the fight.

Yeah, that's the write-up most have, ahem, scene.

I wonder what, if any, repercussions there are to be had as a result? As it says, those who have seen the fight will testify to the blow seeming genuinely powerful and damaging. I can't see why he'd make it up.

Could be a bargaining chip for Arce 2 I suppose.

    Wow.

Why did they actually fight for six rounds then? I don't see a fix at all, watched this fight recently.

It's like: why did Joe Gans keep getting up against McGovern? And why did these two throw genuine punches at each other for six rounds?

Gusano appears to be using this for publicity. Herrera should beat him up.

My first thoughts (apart from Rojas's hair being unbelievably ****) were that it looks like he was genuinely hurt badly from the body shot but who knows. I'm disappointed but not really shocked.

I do hope Arce's not involved.

 I wish you were in charge. I take it this won't be in a Queensbury Rules type of thing though, Gusano would probably take him tbh(as long as there isn't some financial incentive).

You've seen his more recent fights right? Looks a lot slicker(in terms of looks). It always worries me when I recommed people Rojas fights that the hair will cloud everything.

Alright, we send Gusano back to the 70s in a time machine and make him fight Herrera there.

I'd question the legitimacy of every defeat apart from Mijares.

Ah, good. Three of his best performances(despite being KO'd in 2 in the former:lol:, he was very good while it lasted), you can assist me in telling that StWerburghs(or something) guy that he was better vs Nashiro then he was against Arce, Penalosa, etc. Rungvisai's ace isn't he?

Rungvisai and Tepparith are both ace and need to get much, much more respect than they seem to get

You talking about Singwancha(or is it Kokietgym now?)? I agree, Rungvisai in particular has already amassed some very impressive wins, and is only 23. The exact same could be said of Tepparith, in fact.

He was known as Singwancha now known as Kokeitgym I think so I put Tepparith (too much messing around with Thai fighters second names which seem to change every other fight). Rungvisai's wins over Rojas, Nobuo and Singwancha/Kokeitgym are impressive as are Sngwancha's wins over Francisco and Kameda. Two great lil fighters who desperately need more attention
