Tomasz Adamek is moving up to heavyweight division !

It's a shame if he has to move up for economic reasons. Especially if he becomes a failed heavyweight. Because right now he is a force, at cruiserweight. He was excellent against Cunningham, Banks and Bell. He's probably the best he's ever been, right now, at this weight. He's fast, he's accurate, his defense is better than it used to be.

Can't his promoters get him, perhaps, a spot on a big German card? Doesn't someone like Alexander Alexeev, Enad Licina, Fiarat Arslan, Yoan Pablo Hernandez, Marco Huck, want a title fight? Would Universum or Sauerland pay handsomely for home advantage?...It would be good to extend his run as cruiserweight champ, because he might never be champ again, and he will never be the force at heavy, that he is at cruiser. Remember when, to keep Adamek busy and to set up Paul Briggs rematch, King got Adamek on a German show v Ulrich - one of TA's best performances, that was.

 

I'll be disappointed in Adamek if he does decide to move up instead of facing Cunningham again. Adamek imo owe Cunningham a well deserve rematch. Cunningham gave Adamek a chance so why can't Adamek return the favor?

 

Hope Ruiz can stop the planned Valuev-Haye fight and Haye vs. Adamek will be made... A heavyweight fight between 2 cruiser champs, IMO it will be a good one...

Adamek-Haye would be great, but it would be better for a heavyweight title. And obviously it has the significance of them being the 2 best - certainly the most exciting - cruisers of perhaps this decade.

I just hope Adamek makes some more cruiserweight title defenses. If he's struggling to find paydays, surely one of the German promoters might try and get him to come over and defend vs one of their prospects or contenders. (Alexeev is another one to add to my list, and probably so is Victor Ramirez.)

Well Adamek won the elim to fight Cunningham. It's not like Cunningham "gave" him the fight. My reason for wanting to see the rematch is because the first fight was great. If Adamek does want to chase heavyweight paydays, I don't think he can be faulted for that. He just wants to get a big payday for fighting Cunningham. It's a risk fight and any elite champ would want paying well for it.

I think every top fighter wants "superfights". For a top level cruiserweight, the superfight is usually winning a heavyweight title. Which is likely even tougher than beating Steve Cunningham.

 

Not that I think Haye is better but Adamek should not fight Haye in his first heavyweight fight. And IMO Adamek owes USS nothing if he moves up to HW. If USS wants a rematch let him step up to heavyweight.

Adamek owes it to himself and his reputation as a warrior to rematch Cunningham at CW. No way, can he exit CW after fighting someone like Gunn with a clear conscience of having accomplished everything there. Clearly, the Cunningham fight was extremely close and competative and the result is a little disputed with some. There is no doubt that Adamek will get a good amount of money fighting Steve again, as the rematch will be hotly anticipated and probably wanted by both HBO and Showtime, triggering a little bidding war. If this rematch can happen this year and Adamek skips town to move up to HW, I will no have no problem calling it a duck and being convinced that most of the pressure to move up came from his camp, who are concerned about the outcome of the rematch and their ambitions for Adamek at HW.
