This is great news. Adamek taking a stay busy fight that will be held in Chicago & young Fonfara will be the co-feature! I can hear Teddy Atlas now commenting on all the crazy Poles that will come out of the woodwork for this event! Gonna be wild, for us Polish boxing fans. Great job by ESPN!:good This content is protected Adamek returns July 11! IBF #1 ranked mandatory challenger Tomasz Adamek (34-1, 23 KOs) will return to the Windy City on July 11 when he headlines at the Aragon Ballroom against veteran brawler Gary Gomez (18-9, 7 KOs), it was jointly announced today by Main Events CEO Kathy Duva and 8 Count Productions President Dominic Pesoli. ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" will televise. "It was very important to Tomasz to fight once more prior to his showdown against Steve Cunningham," said Duva. "What better place for him to fight than in Chicago where he was warmly welcomed by his Polish brethren the last two times he fought here?" Popular Polish middleweight Andrzej Fonfara, who now resides in Chicago, will compete in the eight round televised co-feature bout against an opponent to be determined shortly. Fonfara is 10-1, 3 KOs. Monday, May 19 2008
Definitely a nobody with alot of losses on his record, but Adamek just wants to pound on a live body instead of a bag. He'll prob be even sharper than he looked against Bell. A destructive win will propel him into his Title fight vs USS Cunningham & that, boxing fans, will be one of the years best, you can count on it.
My beef is just that ESPN would be better off taking two guys at a lower level than Adamek and having a competitive bout. Adamek/Cunningham will be an excellent fight, though. That's the kind of bout Showtime should be having, with a solid undercard fight to lead off the show.
If it's in Chicago, I might go- I've seen Adamek twice live (both times against Paul Briggs in Chicago). He's a thrill to watch.
Not in the slightest, but I'm going to make a bit of an assumption that he'll at least put up more of a fight than Bell did.
Bell did try to mount some offense, but it was Adamek who was just too foxy in there & out smarted him to the point where he knew it was useless to go on.
Oh, I suppose YOU would be willing to take an ass kickin from Adamek? You know how hard it must be to find a willing opponent for this guy?
tune up fight, plus USS didnt want to fight early, Adamek offered him a fight for July, but he didnt want it, so Adamek took this guy instead.. There no problem for a tune up fight, plus FNF w00000000000000000000t i get to watch it live haha :good:good:good no showtime in Canada :blood but FNF
