Heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek spoke with Fightnews.com about Saturday night’s heavyweight clash between WBA champion David Haye and WBO/IBF/IBO champ Wladimir Klitschko. Two months later, on September 10, Adamek will fight the older Klitschko brother Vitali for his WBC heavyweight belt in Poland. “David Haye is putting great pressure on himself with all those declarations and knockout predictions,” said Adamek. “I know – and Wlad also knows, for sure – that Haye wants Klitschko to fight an uncontrolled, very emotional fight. Not sure it will work, though. Hopefully Haye will not burn himself out, just spend his whole energy on talking, provoking, etc. I cannot imagine myself in the situation when I’m basically saying that the other guy is nothing and then be destroyed in the ring. I would vanish, change name, the whole works.”

Will you watch Klitschko-Haye live on Saturday afternoon on the East Coast or wait until evening rebroadcast?

Tomasz Adamek: Live, with my trainer Roger Bloodworth. We usually have just one training session on Saturday, so afterwards we will sit comfortably in my home watching those two guys working hard…

In the US, this is the biggest heavyweight championship fight since 2003, when your next opponent, Vitali Klitschko fought Lennox Lewis. Will it live to the hype, or just be hype?

TA: I would hate this to happen. I have my own reasons to see a great fight this Saturday. Vitali and Wladimir are heavyweights like me, and I would like to see heavyweights like they were before – kings of boxing. I want this fight to be an instant classic, people watching ten years from now and still liking it. I want all the fans in Hamburg give a standing ovation to whoever wins in the end.

What are your expectations – will boxing fans see a long awaited heavyweight classic?

TA: David Haye is putting great pressure on himself with all those declarations and knockout predictions. I know – and Wlad also knows, for sure – that Haye wants Klitschko to fight an uncontrolled, very emotional fight. Not sure it will work, though. Hopefully Haye will not burn himself out, just spend his whole energy on talking, provoking, etc. I cannot imagine myself in the situation when I’m basically saying that the other guy is nothing and then be destroyed in the ring. I would vanish, change name, the whole works.
And all his talking about Vitali not fighting me in September in Poland because Haye wants to have two wins over Klitschkos before his retirement. Beat Wlad first, David!

There is a real animosity between those two guys. Maybe even anger on Wladimir’s side. Did you ever fight angry?

TA: Never. You can count in my amateur career. Anger makes you different, do stuff you should not. Anger against the guy across the ring makes you weaker. Haye made a splash wearing this t-shirt where he’s holding both brothers’ severed heads. I would say nothing; just remember this during whole training camp. Zero anger, just motivation. People still can’t believe me, but when I fight I never forget that I’m a religious person, a Catholic who goes in the ring to win, not to injure anybody. But when you’re angry, bad things can happen…

What about a promoter approaching you before final press conference and saying: “Tomek, quit being such a nice guy, we have tickets to sell”…

TA: Please, you know me better than that. I would not even know how to do it, it is 100% not me. People know who I am – and they know that when fight comes, they will see what they expect, not some BS during press conferences.

Do you believe that Wladimir was surprised when he saw Haye’s media workout. Some believe he did not expect Hayemaker to be so fast…

TA: No way, there’s nothing you could be surprised watching another guy open training. So fast? I don’t see it in Haye, but I know that people talking about him like he just moved two weeks ago from middleweight. I don’t see speed being a decisive factor in this fight, the difference between Wladimir and David will not be as big like people expect. I also don’t believe Haye will be attacking Klitschko – it will be more like his fight against Valuev.

I will not compare you to Haye or Wladimir to Vitali, but what could be the biggest difference between you and David when fighting Klitschkos?

TA: Probably movement – I expect him to run more than I will in September. I changed a little bit – movement is still very important but I improved my overall balance. There is a big difference in my style today when you compare me to, for example, the Chris Arreola fight. In style, but not in my approach. I will not lose this fight against Vitali like so many before me did, before they even entered the ring. You can bet on that.

Chad Dawson is an overhyped wuss!!! He only beat Adamek, because Tomasz was weight drained! Let them fight at cruiser , or even better, HW! Adamek would destroy that loser.:bbb

Adamek is not the same fighter since Dawson fight, just like Haye is not same from Thomposn. The questionable is Hayes punch resistance :yep
