Grant is no great fighter, particularly in his late thirties, but for a recent cruiserweight just getting a stay busy fight...There are much better risk/reward guys out there. ...I think...maybe...I mean...Okay, maybe this fight makes perfect sense, **** if I know.
Its not a step backward, but stay-busy fight. Adamek fights good, when he fights regular. Thats why he fought Bobby Gunn last year. It looks like there wasnt any big fight to make in next months (title fight, eliminator), so they decided to make one easier fight in the meantime. Why Grant? Probably Holyfield and Rahman wanted too much money. This fight will be a challenge to Adamek, because he hasnt fought so big guy yet. Even if Grant is shot, its still something new for Adamek.
There is danger tho in this fight. Grant can really punch and the guy can get a lot of leverage behind his shots. Grant has better than average punching power and his long long arms are a big asset. Adamek will have more problems that he has had with golota and even arreola. I think Grant does better thN BOTH of those guys. It all depends on grants mental state prior to the fight.
for me its better than 50 yrs old Holyfield. even if u think holy would still be able to take care of grant. I dont think that kind of legend deserves such a treating, being a "Tune-up" Also adamek could seriously hurt him... Grant on the other hand... who the **** cares about him? Let him feel the pain. If the fight with peter is almost set, and i believe it is. then its no fight or fight with not dangerous oponnent kind situation.
Wow, even worse idea than Holyfield, quite an accomplishment. Very bad choice, just when Adamek really made an impact with the Arreola fight, proved the detractors wrong and made many believe in him as a HW. But there you go. Grant. atsch
Adamek already fought twice in this year (and did more than some recent challengers), so I have no problem if he takes Grant as a stay-busy fight, althought I agree it is a step back not only from Arreola but arguably even from Estrada. The fight could be also more entertaining than his last two fights as Grant had good offensive skills without much defence (and chin).
There's not alot of options fro Thomas so I think this is a good tune-up. Let's give the guy a break...who stays this busy? Better a tune-up than no fight at all. Noone should be giving him **** after what he's done in the past year.
Well this is really out of the blue. Never expected a match-up like this. As mentioned, Grant beat Kevin Burnett TKO1 a couple weeks ago, which was his first fight in 18 months. He said he's due to have another fight on June 19th, I'd assume that would still go ahead and then Adamek here in August/September. I seriously doubt Grant would fight Adamek after just that less-than-a-round bout under his belt, he'll want a tune-up. So we'll have to see who that is for Grant first, and how it goes, before we can rely on this fight happening. Adamek is pretty quick and sharp. I think Grant can hurt him if he hits him, give me the late 90s version of Grant and I'd definitely pick him to outmuscule Tomasz, but I can't give much odds for Grant to get the victory here. Much as I'd love to see him pull the upset. Boxing's a funny old game.
Couple recent pics: This content is protected This content is protected Grant still looks the part. Why is it that so many of the older US heavyweights - Grant, Holyfield, McCall etc - are still able to get themselves into great shape while the younger guys can't seem to be bothered?
Why Grant shouldn't accept such an easy fight against little, feather-fisted Adamek? At last some1 will school back Adameck to CW or LHW.
I do not think Adamek being little or (relatively) feather-fisted makes a difference here as Grant never learned how to use his size and he is ready to go down anytime he gets hit. Although I also see no reason why Grant should refuse another payday, especially that he doesn't deserve it at all (and has serious underdog chance here).
Like Lewis said on HBO, Adamek has terrible footwork and it's the key to overcome such a huge guy. There is definitely too big difference in phisical traits.
Lewis was saying that when the sole was falling off of Adamek's shoe. Once his shoe problem was fixed, his footwork was fine. He pulls straight back too much, but he usually keeps centered.
Adamek is the total opposite of Golota, if you don't know that you're an idiot and should stop posting about **** you know nothing about.
