Tommy Burns VS James J. Braddock

I am going with Tommy Burns by decision, in either ruleset. I think Burns was very slightly better, and I also favor his style over Braddock's.

 

Braddock on points.

 

Braddock could actually box a tiny bit. He was also pretty tall and could move a bit.

 

So you fancy him to win ,a bit?

 

I haven’t seen enough of either to draw any conclusions. Burns had the better more consistent career and win a lot more of his fights. Braddock however arguably has the biggest win over max bear. Both were durable. Guess it’s a pick ‘em fight

 

Those bits add up to be a lot IMO.

 

Braddock by a decision, a KO is not out of the question.

The Cinderella Man was not an ATG by any means but IMO he is somewhat underrated/dissed here.

 

Other than his courage, a halfway decent straight right and a very good chin I really don't think Braddock had much of anything except a win over a sleepwalking Baer .. Burns could fight a bit, matched him with courage and chin but would have to be busier than I've seen him on film instead of loading up with every shot ... I think Burns was better but who knows ...

 

Burns could box very well.

There just wasn't very much of him.
