Everyone I've seen around the time ranked Sharkey higher.

But I do think people hated Burns for letting Johnson win the title, and in such an embarassing way, so maybe some bias there. But Johnson rated Sharkey over Burns too.

I think I have to pick Sharkey

Burns was obviously a lot more technically refined, but I think that Sharkey was more destructive.

He was too small as a heavyweight, but when you consider what he did in a P4P context, he was very good. And in an era where champions went for years without defending, he travelled around taking on opponent after opponent.

When you compare how Burns done against Johnson, to how Ketchell did too. (and many consider Ketchell an ATG)

I like Burns here, he's clearly the more well polished 'boxer'. It's always hard to get a judge on fighting styles about some of the heavyweights from way back in the day. Would anyone care to pitch in on how Sharkey and Hart's styles compare to each other? Sharkey always struck me as a rushing type, I could be completely wrong though. I do however know he was a loose cannon!
