Both men rate in the top 5 all time British heavyweights in my opinion.

    Who takes it ?

Farr was too quick and crafty in my opinion. And Bugner didn't have the aggression or work rate that it would have taken to chase him down.

    Farr on points.

If Jack Bodell can beat Bugner then Tommy Farr certainly would.

I see what you mean but Joe was having one of his 'snoozy' nights in that one. In this hypothetical,I'm referring to each man on his best night.

    I know what you mean.
The Bugner that fought Frazier would have demolished Jack!
That was Bugner though, a frustrating fighter.

He sure was frustrating,Vinegar ! Bar the big 4 of Ali,Foreman,Frazier and Norton,Joe had the ability to have beaten anyone circa 1973-74.

No,I have n't forgotten about Larry Holmes and Jimmy Young but these two were still learning their trade in the timeframe I mentioned above.

I would fancy a motivated Joe to win a close decision by dint of his Jab and Mobility, Tommy was tough as hell and if Bugner came at him like he did Richard Dunn, it would probably in fact Assist Tommy ! But Tommy being tough does not preclude him from being outpointed, certainly Fiddle-Faddled and Frustrated, Joe Louis and Max Bear did not fight off the back foot, Tommy knew where they were, and they brought a Level of Consistency of approach to help him, But Joe, say of the Frazier or Ali fights may be points snatching behind the Jab before launching Quick sometimes " Flappy " combinations which may if nothing else break up Tommy's Rhythm, Tommy was not a great One-Shot Hitter and Joe had a good chin and Stamina, so a full fight seems a certainty, I just do not think Tommy has that Outstanding attribute to win, Compete and Compete well yes, but if he is not stopping Bugner...I do not think that he is outpointing him,

Joe could possibly take a decision. Farr would come for a fight tho, so Bugner can't take him light.

Could be areal stinker. Tommy was awkward, crouching and crab like which would make it hard for Joe to land meaningful shots. In the same breath Bugner would be able to slide out of range of Farr's counter attacks.
I'll take Bugner due to his size and speed but don't expect thrills.
